Facilities at Hatton Court

Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home, the feeling is one of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand.

Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush.

The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complimented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other's company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room.

The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a goodnights sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds. Just 3 miles from Gloucester, this is a perfect base to explore all the history and heritage that the City of Gloucester has to offer.

The Tara Restaurant

With large panoramic windows that take full advantage of the breathtaking views of the Severn Vale and the distant Malvern Hills, the spectacular location of the 1 AA Rosette Tara Restaurant is matched with genuinely warm hospitality, fine food and an extensive selection of wines.

In summer months you can enjoy alfresco dining on the terraces or just simply enjoy an aperitif and canapés, coffee and petit fours, or a glass of champagne as the sun slips behind the distant hills. During the winter, log fires roar in the reception and lounge, the perfect spot to indulge in a fine Vintage Port or aged Cognac.

The natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other's company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room.

The Tara Restaurant is open every day for hearty English Breakfasts, Morning Coffee and Cakes, Leisurely Lunches, gloriously indulgent Afternoon Teas and candlelit Dinners. Traditional delicious roasts served every Sunday Lunch.

Tracey, West Sussex, stayed: October 2017

As I child I was sometimes taken to the Tara Restaurant by my grandmother as special treat so when I was planning a weekend away with my mother, I thought it would be nice to return. We had a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was supremely comfortable and the food was great.

Lovely place to stay, well looked after by friendly staff at reception and in the restaurant. Room was clean and homely. We had a Jacuzzi bath which was very good, Only thing the grout around the bath/ties was coming away. The food was excellent in the restaurant, good cooked breakfast in the morning although maybe could of done with a little more.

As I booked through Offpeak, and paid a reasonable price for my stay, I had no complaints. However all rooms were tatty, needing decoration and maintenance. How it is rated 4 star I'm not sure. Staff were helpful.

An excellent hotel offering good service and accommodation. The food was of high quality and the tea on arrival was just perfect. The location was very good and was handy for getting to Gloucester Quays which we enjoyed.

Excellent base for visiting Gloucester and the Cotswolds

Peter H, Derbyshire, stayed: September 2017

Overall an excellent choice for a short break. Room was very good with pleasant rural views. We enjoyed dining in the restaurant where food and service were first class. The only negatives were the piped music in the restaurant and the fact that the hotel is very popular for weddings. There were 2 weddings during our stay but they really disturbed us very little.

A pleasant hotel for a short break. Unfortunately, the gardens were off limits for residents since there were big weddings both days. This was very disappointing, both the gazebo and large decking area looked inviting.

Food was good but a tired looking hotel.

LT, Hampshire, stayed: August 2017

Not what I call a four star hotel. The receptionist was polite but not overly friendly, didn't look up or greet you with a smile when going out or on our return, which I think is basic hospitality. The waitresses on the whole were friendly and keen to please didn't always get the request for drinks correct but were always apologetic for any mistakes made. Our room was pleasant and recently revamped, clean and had a lovely view even from the shower! The food was good and was certainly worth the one rosette that it was awarded. The carpets throughout the rest of the hotel were dirty and really needed to be recarpeted throughout.  On the whole the hotel was good value for money, ideal hotel if you want to use it as a base for a walking holiday and have a pleasant meal at the end of the day which we did. I just wouldn't rate it as a four star hotel.
