We were very let down by the standard of this hotel, although the staff were pleasant and helpful. When we arrived we were given the key to a horrible dirty and damp room. After complaining we were moved to a room that was much better.  Although it was in need of decorating as the whole hotel is crying out to be painted and updated. The reception area and small bar seemed to have a nasty dirty smell. Restaurant food was ok but the tables and chairs extremely tired and scruffy. Overall very disappointing.

Lovely position overlooking Lake Windermere. Stayed in Premier Room with patio area to sit out. Tastefully decorated and furnished rooms. Generous size bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi bath. Complementary toiletries.
Bar area had comfy leather sofas to sit again to see out over the lake or choose the balcony. Friendly barstaff.
Restaurant - buffet breakfast with field mushrooms, black pudding, beans, egg, sausage, bacon. Toast, tea and coffee brought to table.
full selection of cereal, pastries, fresh fruit.
We had a perfect weekend, could not fault it in any way.

Stairs

Judith, Warwickshire, stayed: June 2017

We had a very nice two day stay here and the room 7 had a fantastic view of the lake and its own terrace BUT those stairs!! Over 55 stairs to go to the restaurant which I have to say was worth the effort entailed. I am not sure about the hot buffet breakfast but as we do no eat it I cannot comment but the fruit, yoghurt, pastries etc were very good. The evening meal I have to say was extremely good the waiting staff very attentive and a lovely view .How people get their luggage to their rooms is a mystery as I was unaware of a porter but we found a route from the car park to our room that only involved about 10 steps.

Lovely two night stay

Anon, stayed: June 2017

Had a great break. Room was refurbished on bottom level, really nice with fantastic outlook onto the lake. We used the spa facilities which were lovely and clean, loved the outdoor hot tub. Food was amazing, we had five courses both nights and couldn't fault it. All in all a great break, much needed.
