Easter Break
We had an amazing break. The hotel staff were very professional and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, The head waiter in the restaurant made the whole dining experience perfect and the food was of a very high standard. We had a lovely room overlooking the lake. The only criticism was a lack of hot water, there was also a mix up with wine that should have been in the room on arrival and the same for the handmade truffles that we'd paid extra for, but everything else more than made up for it. We thoroughly enjoyed the spa and particularly the outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the lake. All in all a perfect break.
Over priced but very nice
Hotel was very nice. Location ok except for road closures which caused disruption. Expensive drinks. Only 1 biscuit in room for two. Some cold corridors to Spa. No ambiance in bar area. Staff helpful. En suite spotless but small. Hotel in need of some general make over eg outside paintwork and car park improvements. Floorboards were noisy. Breakfast was amazingly good.
Excellent
The hotel was beautiful. Beautiful location spa gorgeous food amazing staff very helpful. We have stayed before and will most certainly return.
Winter Break at Beech Hill
Upgraded to Premier Plus room as per deal. Good room with stunning view. Excellent restaurant with 5 course menu although drop leaf dining tables need replacing. Some refurbishment going on and roadworks on access road made getting in and out a bit inconvenient. Good value with Off Peak Luxury deal but doubt if we would pay full price.
Room radiator was on or off no in between which made it very uncomfortable, rooms dated, staff not helpful. We left after the first night and did not even bother to stay for the second night as it was that bad of a place. The food was good however the hotel was under development with painting and scaffolding up. The restaurant had no atmosphere it was like sitting in a silent room. The wait for the food was ridiculous, between course was at least half an hour. We did not even get asked by reception if we had a good stay even though we had paid and checked out early. This place was not luxury.
Great food and service
We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. The room was lovely with a patio overlooking the lake. The restaurant was superb and the staff faultless. The only thing that spoiled the experience was the hotel and rooms were very cold. It was snowy outside and it needed to be warmer for guests to be comfortable. Overall a lovely hotel with great staff.
Mixed review
Overall we enjoyed our stay, mainly due to the excellent service and the very enjoyable meals, but there were a few niggles with the hotel. Access was tricky as it sat on a very busy road with road works opposit the entry ( a temporary problem), but the car park, entered under a road way to the rear of the hotel was often very busy... staff would need to use it too, and on one evening on our return there was no space at all, without blocking other drivers in. There was absolutely nowhere else to park, so we sat and waited till someone left. The hotel must be busy with visitors to the spa, and it has a fair number of rooms. So, car park far too small!
Access to hotel from car park up steep stairs. Entrance to hotel is rather pathetic. A small door onto steep, narrow internal stairs. Room beside door had dirty net curtains on window. Not very welcoming. 2 flights up to reception. Not for the faint hearted!!
Room decor very tired. Furniture past its best. Beds good. Very clean. Very dull, even with all lights on. Lovely lake view.
Food great, beautifully presented. Service was always excellent. Dining room cold as curtains were off due to redecoration happening. One couple near us sat with outdoor jackets on! Hopefully when work finished and new curtains hung, it will be much warmer.
Thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Only fault was that one bedside light didn't work and was not repaired although reported. Food excellent but smaller quantities would have meant less weight gain.
