Lovely Setting

MW, Leicestershire, stayed: October 2017

Spent a couple of nights at Beech Hill and really enjoyed the stay. on arrival we had a friendly welcome from reception and told our room available earlier than check in.The room was a generous size and reasonably decorated, our spar bath was a little tired looking but plenty of power which was also match by the over head shower. The bed was comfy with plenty of space to relax.
The views from the balcony were stunning and a real feature of our stay. The evening meals was nicely cooked with loads of choice. the restaurant area gave a lovely view and nice atmosphere to enjoy an excellent meal. The spar facilities are exceptional and well worth a visit, just be aware its mixed changing area when you first walk in.
Breakfast was nicely cooked with plenty of choice. Overall we were really pleased with our stay and won't hesitate to return.

Poor value for money

Kevin, Lancashire, stayed: October 2017

If you are looking for excellent food served by very attentive staff then the restaurant has our recommendation. Other than that we considered our 3-night stay poor value for money. With the exception of the restaurant the remaining parts of the hotel were 'extremely tired' and require a serious upgrade. We had the Wordsworth Suite and paid 855 for the 3-night break. Our first (intended relaxing) afternoon was disrupted by a 2-hour maintenance of the hot tub which flooded the surrounding garden area. The room and garden area were in serious need of a good clean. The so-called "large plasma screen TV' was a small LED type. There were no "other thoughtful touches" as claimed. The pedal bin was broken. The edges of the shower tray were cracked and corroding. The rear of the bathroom mirror was corroding. The bedroom carpet was worn and stained. There was mould and damp on the walls in the suite and in other areas of the hotel The list could go on and on and all the claims can be supported by photographic evidence. Our recommendation would be to choose another hotel.

Lovely break

CW, West Yorkshire, stayed: October 2017

We were overall extremely pleased with our stay here. The staff were all pleasant and helpful.
Restaurant was clean and comfortable with a good choice of food which was beautifully presented and tasted great. The waiting staff were particularly good too.
We had a ground floor room which had a fantastic view of the lake. Although recently refurbished the decor although nicely done was a little drab and the bathroom very small and not as modern as expected. However the bed was large and very comfy and all was spotlessly clean. My husband and I stayed for two nights for our wedding anniversary and would definitely
Go back and recommend to friends and family. In fact we have already done so.

Wedding Anniversary

CC, Hertfordshire, stayed: October 2017

We went for a two night stay at this hotel for our wedding anniversary. The food in the restaurant was excellent - breakfast and dinner in the evening. We received a bottle of fizz in our room too. However, we had to request a cooler for the fizz and ice cubes to cool the wine.

The bathroom was clean with nice towels and the towel rail kept them nice and warm. However, the bathroom was the only place with a decent light. There was no light over the dressing table and the other lights (bedside and overhead) were completely inadequate.

Overall the hotel could do with a makeover - it was quite shabby. Although the spa and swimming pool area was very good and an outside jacuzzi was lovely with good views.

We discovered the garden led down to the Lake on our last morning - the rain had let up at this point! The gardens were well kept and would be very nice in warm weather.

The staff were very friendly. If the fires had been lit (it was a very dark, dismal two days) the overall ambience would have been better. I would recommend the hotel for the food alone.

Could have been better

Paul B, Kent, stayed: September 2017

The decor, carpet and lighting in our particular room, (26), was of a poor standard. The carpet was all rucked and I tripped over twice. Some of the lights were not working and even though I asked twice over a 6 night stay, for the lights to be attended to, this did not happen.

The hotel overall was very pleasant, if a little dated. Could do with the exterior being repainted.

The spa area was very relaxing and clean, given the time of year we were there, we even made use of the outside hot tub.

Food at breakfast and dinner was very varied and well presented.

A lovely break for our 10th wedding anniversary

Heather M, Ayrshire, stayed: September 2017

We had a lovely room overlooking the lake, we had an upgrade to a premium room. We had clean towels each day, and the bedding was changed after two days, the only thing which was not quite right was the shower cubicle, which was grubby the tiles needed a clean, but that was our only issue.

Excellent value for money but rooms need a bit of tlc

DC, Tyne and Wear, stayed: September 2017

The hotel has a lovely period feel to the public areas and restaurant. Room was big with a glorious view across Windermere. Had a lovely 4 poster bed but decor and carpets need a bit of tlc. All the staff were excellent, friendly and welcoming. The food and the staff in the restaurant were excellent. We had a fabulous 3 nights and would come back again.
