Winter break

Anon, stayed: January 2018

Having had so many glowing reports about the Lygon Arms we were somewhat surprised when we arrived at the hotel to find it so gloomy. This was January and we had decided to take a short break from the dark days at home as I suffer from SAD.
The walls and ceilings were all painted in various shades of grey. This included our deluxe room which was dark grey including the beamed ceiling. This is obviously the latest trend in interior decor as the hotel has recently been refurbished. I imagine it would look much better on a sunny day.
In fact, we got used to it after the initial shock and really enjoyed our stay mostly due to the friendly staff.

  • Would stay here again

Anon, stayed: January 2018

We booked through the Telegraph Offers 2 day break with the Lygon Arms, and while we were thoroughly impressed with the style of the hotel, we were a bit disappointed that on the evening we were due to have dinner in the restaurant, the heating had broken down, and we were offered the same facilities in the wine bar. What we didn't realise until we had sat down in the wine bar, was that the menu was an Italian led menu, we were told later that we could have eaten off the restaurant menu, but this wasn't pointed out when we sat down, so we felt somewhat disappointed when we did not get what was expected. I would also point out that they car park surface is somewhat pot holed and not in keeping with the rest of the establishment.

A fantastic time

Anon, stayed: December 2017

My daughter and I had a fantastic time here. Dinner by the huge open fire in the amazing wood-panelled dining room, milk and cookies by room service, luggage and car taken care of, pool great, Jacuzzi lovely and relaxing. Broadway itself is delightful too. A real escapist treat! We wanted to stay forever!
The only downside was the noisy aircon/heating unit in the bedroom and the sound from outside of the units from the other rooms.

Excellent hotel

Ann C, West Midlands, stayed: December 2017

We try and book the Lygon Arms at least once a year around Christmas time and this year did not disappoint. We had one of the brand new converted courtyard suites which was fabulous. Love the new courtyard gardens!! The upgrades done recently are befitting the character of the old place - I have been coming here for more than 12 years - and the reduction in formality is different, but not necessarily a bad thing. Restaurant menu is seasonal rather than daily and I think this is a good change. Have to say our meal was excellent as was our breakfast the next day. I look forward to visiting again in December this year!

Excellent one night package

Anon, stayed: November 2017

The staff couldn't have been more helpful from the time of arrival to time of departure. A nice touch was their informal dress, although smart, certainly not at all stuffy. Restaurant ambience in the grand hall was superb. Evening meal was fine, the breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. The bedroom was spotless, comfortable and quiet. The only niggle was the 12.5% service charge on everything.

A Touch of History in The Cotswolds.

PO, Herefordshire, stayed: November 2017

The staff are very helpful, courteous and welcoming. The spa, having been upgraded, is relaxing providing excellent massages and pool facilities. The room with bathroom, whilst small was very well appointed. The restaurant is large but with an intimate atmosphere. Food has been better in the past.Fish and chips, burger and such was served on wooden boards which whilst trendy, made the food cold quicker. Food not gourmet but normal good pub food.
