Not what was expected from a 4* hotel

Anon, stayed: January 2019

Wifi terrible, Wouldn't class rooms as luxury. Carpet thread bear, sofa beds had stained cushions.

Supposed to be an 'Upgrade' to junior suite as we were a family. Not sure what other rooms are like if we were "Upgraded", only supplied 2 tea cups / tea bags for a room supposed to be catering for 4.

Website states dressing gowns and slippers in room - (these did not exist).

Lighting in room was sparce, no ceiling lights only a coupe of table lights.

Took over 10 minutes to get any hot water into the room.

Food in restaurant was nice, but wouldn't say it was spectacular or worth what was charged, apart from the children's main meal.

Overall, extremely disappointing.

Historic hotel, lovely room but disappointing Spa

JC, Worcestershire, stayed: January 2019

Lovely old hotel. Room was great - large, well furnished, clean, beautiful view. Dining rooms were lovely and food ok. Spa was disappointing - v tired and in need of refurbishment. Treatments were also poor, didn't feel like the beauty therapist really knew what she was doing.

Quality deal at a Quality Hotel

JM, Cheshire, stayed: January 2019

Looking at some websites for Hotels near Stratford, I spotted a deal for a one night stay. It included evening meal and a bottle of wine to the value of 16. Taking a punt, my partner and me booked the Billesley Manor Hotel. Now we like a deal as much as the next couple and sometimes, as we have found in the past, you do not get what you consider is being promised;
I can now report that we were not disappointed. In the first instance the Hotel is a period building set in a fantastic location, our room had all we required and was maintained at a pleasant regular temperature. It was located on the first floor providing a super view across fantastic gardens.
The evening three course meal was as good as we could have wished for and to cap it , we ordered a bottle of wine which cost more than the one offered in the deal at 16, yet we were not charged any more for it, A nice and classy touch we thought. We had a great peaceful nights sleep followed by a welcome buffet breakfast. All supported by pleasant helpful and cheerful staff.
This was a deal that did not disappoint and one we will be more than happy to repeat in future.

Manor Stay

Nigel, Berkshire, stayed: December 2018

We stayed at a relatively quiet period in a feature room and enjoyed the experience. The restaurant food was excellent; the building retains its period features and has a variety of public rooms to relax in. Criticism was probably reserved for the spa which was clearly not up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel, many of the lockers had broken doors/no lock barrels etc. Toilet seats broken and badly scarred flooring - need of a good makeover to bring it up to a standard equivalent to the main hotel.
The bar area was OK but had a very tame log fire that did not do justice to the fireplace. We were told it was not possible to put more logs on beyond early evening! A blazing log fire should be just that, especially in the middle of winter. Overall it was a good stay the above observations did not significantly detract from our enjoyment and the location was ideal for visiting Stratford, Warwick, Leamington etc.
