Good in parts

Anon, stayed: October 2019

There are a lot of things about this hotel which are good, but we were disappointed with the food, very limited choice, such slow service (they forgot us), we had our breakfast refunded. Room was spacious and pleasant, but room service was basic, cream tea without tea, requests forgotten? The spa staff were very pleasant and helpful, but we only used the pools, too many children in the indoor pool, with little parental control, so we used the outside pool which was pleasant, well maintained and warm, although the access across stepping stones and grass could be much improved. Finally, the bill for extras was wrong, corrected politely, but should not have happened. Altogether very disappointed, although most of the staff were doing their best.

2nd Visit

Clare & Stuart, Devon, stayed: October 2019

We booked the Bishopstrow again, this time to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary, time before was a Christmas Gift. We specifically chose to book here again, as we had such a wonderful time on our first visit. Second visit was just as wonderful, this time it was for 2 nights instead of 1. Couldn't fault anything. All the staff we had contact with were extremely friendly and helpful. Our Suite (Mountain Suite) was absolutely amazing, thank you, as this was an upgrade for us from the hotel. This is by no means a negative or criticism, but we did think the room could have benefited from having a fridge in it, considering the size, and what the room was i.e a suite. However, this was perhaps just because of what we were celebrating. The spa was perfect as was the food. Thank you for all the little added luxury extras, they made it extra special for us. All in all a truly wonderful stay again from start to finish, and we will definitely look to book the Bishopstrow again.

We found the hotel in a lovely position and elegant looking building. Welcome wasn t matching the elegant building as no dedicated parking for guests.Beautiful room let down by standards of cleaning.Again disappointing restaurant for dinner and items found in breakfast ie hairs which we didn t order. We mentioned this on departure and the hotel did offer to not charge us for any extras. We would return and hope these issues were a one off

Not very good attention to detail

Anon, stayed: August 2019

We did not feel very well looked after. There were not enough staff to accommodate the number of people staying. There was no water in our room on arrival, the phone didn't work throughout the stay, the bathroom was not cleaned to a high standard, there was often a long wait at the bar if the bar was manned at all, food/drinks that were on the menu were not available, there were often dirty tables in both lounges that hadn't been cleared. The bed was very uncomfortable and the duvet very heavy and cumbersome.
Parking was easy and location was lovely, the grounds were beautiful and the house itself was gorgeous. The food was also good. The staff that were there were mostly very nice and polite. The spa treatments we had were reasonably priced and relaxing. We just didn't feel like the focus was the customer and the environment was not particularly warm. We did not feel well looked after.

Nice hotel, disappointing restaurant

JP, Hertfordshire, stayed: August 2019

We enjoyed our brief stay at the hotel, the room was nice and bed very comfortable. We didn t use the spa facilities.

Our meal in the restaurant was disappointing; very slow service and our main courses were lukewarm and the spinach accompaniment gritty. Not the high quality meal we were expecting.

Surprisingly good.

PA, Hampshire, stayed: August 2019

Warminster is not exactly a tourist hot spot and Bishopstrow House likewise. So we were pleasantly surprised to stay here. Food was very good, staff helpful, room was excellent and spacious. As a place to disappear for a while, it was perfect. We even got a glass of champagne which was a bonus for our anniversary stay.

Wonderful stay, amazing value for money

Alice, Oxfordshire, stayed: August 2019

My mum and I stayed for two nights in August and had a perfect getaway. The staff were welcoming and helpful, the spa was really good and the food was perfect. The room was very grand and impressive, particularly the enormous bathroom! Everything was clean and felt fresh. The value for money is really impressive as I expected it to be a bit run down or worn at parts but it was all beautiful, would definitely recommend.
