So we had some initial poor treatment at breakfast and the first night at dinner after my husband complained about the treatment and advised that he worked for the hotel group in the past the service improved . The champagne bucket in our room was dirty and the upholstery in the room required a deep clean lots of stains . We work within the industry so for a four star hotel there is some work to be done. The younger members of your staffing team were amazing.

Thank you

Birthday celebration.

AL, Yorkshire, stayed: August 2023

Booked this hotel for a break to celebrate my wife's birthday. Very comfortable room. Restaurant evening meals were very good and the service was excellent. Breakfasts were what you would expect from a hotel of this type. Cereals , fresh fruit, continental and full English were all available. The hotel was a bit difficult to find but I think this was a combination of the satnav wanting to go a particular way and the road works that were in progress at the time.
Overall it was a very nice and enjoyable stay.

Great relaxing break

RH, Worcestershire, stayed: August 2023

The hotel was lovely. A little disappointed with the room as it was a little dated and even after informing the hotel that my husband had recently had a quadruply heart bypass we were put in the room at the end of a long corridor. There wasn't much grounds to walk round but as a relaxing break wS what we went for this time it was ok.

Lovely setting

Angela W, Wiltshire, stayed: August 2023

Saw this hotel advertised in my RED magazine
So booked it for a night for our wedding anniversary
Upon arriving it looks massive Grounds are lovely
Staff are very helpful and welcoming
We went to our room ,but I have to say I was a little disappointed It looked tired
There was a massive tea / coffee stain by the side of my bedside table
The bathroom was tired looking
Could have done with a lick of paint
As it was for our 5th wedding anniversary I m sorry but I was very disappointed
The food meanwhile was delicious
The lounges were very comfortable, clean and relatively quiet
Perhaps because it was advertised in the RED magazine I was expecting a bit of luxury

Poor quality and value for money

Josephine R, South Yorkshire, stayed: August 2023

My friend and I spent 3 nights at Bowden Hall. I booked the trip as a 70th birthday gift for my friend.Beautiful external building and lovely grounds. Bedroom large and clean. Sadly had issues with the toilet in room 428, the table was rickety resulting in a drink being spilled. We had separate rooms and were offered no single person discount and therefore paid double room rates. The deal included afternoon tea. We sat in the dining room next to the window which was swarming with flies. Okay it was a warm day but surely there have been other warm days and management could put something in place to catch or deter the flies. A large fly landed on my cream scone. Staff brought another scone but I couldn t eat it. Both my friend and I left the afternoon tea because the flies were relentless. All the concerns were reported to staff. On leaving i again reported my concerns and was told they will be looked at when you pay your bill . I asked that the reception staff ensure my concerns and feedback were reported to management and for a response. I have received no communication from management regarding the issues. At the very least it is good practice to discuss customer concerns and a good establishment would have also offered some compensation. Very poor service at a pretty high cost.
Disappointing. Would not recommend.

Thank you for your review.

We have been in touch with the hotel regarding the afternoon tea and you have since advised us that Bowden Hall management has contacted you in response to your concerns and credited you for the afternoon tea, which you were happy with.

Thanks for letting us know and sorry about any issues you had, although we are happy to hear you liked the beautiful external building and grounds and found your room large and clean.

Kind regards,

Country Hotel Breaks

Perfect for Slimbridge

John, Buckinghamshire, stayed: July 2023

Ideal for our trip to visit Slimbridge. Reasonable choice of vegan options for my wife so ate in restaurant both evenings. Bedroom OK but only one bedside table, a first in my experience!
