Very Disappointing

JT, Rochester, stayed: October 2018

This was supposed to be a luxury break for my birthday and it got off to a good start with drinks in the lounge late afternoon, however, things went rapidly down h. We mentioned it two or three to the waiting staff who eventually brought a plug in radiator but that made very little difference. We then went into the lounge for a nightcap only to find they had let the fire go out and this too was uncomfortably cold. As soon as we complained they re-lit the fire but it is a very large lounge and even with the fire it was still cold. When we checked out the following morning we were asked if we had had a pleasant stay and I explained everything. The Duty Manager was waiting when we came down with our luggage and he apologised and said as the weather had taken a turn for the worst they were caught unaware. Rubbish! Any good Manager should be aware of changing weather conditions and be prepared for them. He said he would pass my comments onto the General Manager but no one has contacted me. It actually spoilt my birthday celebrations

Birthday stay

Christine, Bedfordshire, stayed: September 2018

We stopped off here after coming off the Tunnel and we were visiting Leeds Castle the next day. The booking advice was to reserve a table for dinner. I specifically mentioned to the receptionist that we were staying for my husband's birthday and his birthday dinner would be that night. I was disappointed that no attention was given to this information. I queried with the reception desk the next day to find that no notes were made regarding my reservation. I felt that I had been ignored. I learnt that they will dress plates and make the dinner a little more special. Otherwise the hotel was nice, good breakfast.

Anniversary Break

BB, Essex, stayed: February 2018

We have been with OPL many times and as this was a mini break for our anniversary on Valentines day and OPL & Hotel knew this no effort was made to acknowledge it, we were put in a small room in the eaves.
Plus as this break only offered one nights meal in the restaurant and we normally do two, so it was a good job I phoned the hotel to check otherwise we wouldn't have been booked in for our actual anniversary, the whole point of going there!!!
Will say the hotel is ok, the setting very nice and the food was delicious.

Very comfortable and well appointed room with view over the Kent countryside. Easy access to nearby attractions. Excellent restaurant with extensive wine list. Afternoon tea was a joy sat next to an open fire and is clearly a speciality.
