Two night break in the Cotswolds

Jack R, Devon, stayed: April 2019

Cotswold House is one of those old fashioned hotels where they turn down your bed at 7pm when you are at dinner and in the morning you order your cooked breakfast from the waitress, rather than visit the self service breakfast bar. Both of which we appreciated.
The bedroom at the top of the hotel's beautiful curved staircase, was well appointed and looked out onto cottages and fields. Alas, nothing's perfect and we could not get any wi-fi connection in our room. However, we would recommend this hotel for a stay in the beautiful Cotswolds.

Beautiful place and hotel even if the food let it down

Laura B, Worcestershire, stayed: April 2019

Spa deal booked for one night stay with a 3 course meal and breakfast the next day. Spa was beautiful and very relaxing the room was quirky and clean, however if you like showers it may be worth checking this as most of the rooms have baths with shower attachments! Fine for me but my husband has spondylitis so can t really get in and out of baths very well. The food unfortunately was disappointing, firstly we were given a specials menu upon arrival and so myself and hubby grazed over what we fancied for the evening then when given the menu at dinner it had changed and shouldn t have been given that menu at all. Anyway we decided on calamari which was chewy and the asparagus soup this was like a pur e and was to thick to eat, it also came with a warm bread roll but no butter. We then both had the Barnsley chop which was over salted so wasn t that nice to eat it was also very gristly which you don t normally get with quality lamb! Breakfast was lovely but attention to detail is missed. Water jug at dinner was leaking but wasn t changed until it was all over our table. At breakfast my husband asked for no black pudding and we both ending up with none!

3 night stay

Helen R, Cheshire, stayed: March 2019

Although we booked a twin bedded room we were given a double bed, but it was so huge we didn't object!
The Bistro food was fairly good, with one disastrous 'brownie' for which my husband had to request a knife - a hacksaw would have been more appropriate!
The Fig restaurant was a joy to have breakfast in, and at the one dinner we had there we had the best beef ever, but the dessert was a joke - a cheesecake which consisted of a few crumbs dotted around the plate. Otherwise excellent.

TWO DAY PACKAGE REVIEW

DLP, Buckinghamshire, stayed: March 2019

My daughter and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago, had a lovely relaxing stay, very helpful staff, especially in the dining room. Top evening meals and lovely breakfast. The only criticism we have is that we had both booked treatments in the spa, my daughter Danielle, a deep tissue massage and I, a relaxing aromatherapy massage. When she came back I briefly spoke to her and she said it's not the best deep tissue massage I've had, not much pressure and I wasn't asked if I wanted the pressure increased. Anyway then I went in for my treatment, I had a good massage with reasonably firm pressure. As I was walking out after the treatment, the therapist said you will probably feel tired after this, its very normal after a deep tissue massage! I never said anything at the time to her but obviously our treatments were mixed up. So disappointing, especially for my daughter who works as a physio and was badly in need of the deep tissue massage.

Warm welcome , lovely room , very comfortable , great to have a balcony . excellent choice of Gins and good advice on being a novice Gin drinker .Really enjoyed our evening meal but unfortunately the restaurant was closed , we would have preferred to eat there .Lovely to be able to relax and have a swim, a sauna would be a good addition .
