Even an accident couldn't spoil this!
My wife and I booked a 1 night stay and enjoyed the food and every moment until she tripped and fell in the night (not the hotel's fault - let this be a lesson: turn the light on!). Sadly the result was quite a serious back injury but the hotel staff - no names, you know who - were excellent, sympathetic and helpful. We'll be back, and more careful!
Excellent location and good facilities
The hotel is inviting, the lobby and bar/restaurants are all welcoming and well presented. Food quality is good, choice limited so staying more than one night means your options for dinner rapidly shrink. Our bedroom was quite small (as was the bathroom) with no views out of the windows but the bed was comfortable and the room quiet.
For a short break the hotel is fine and the location is ideal for touring the surrounding area.
Disappointed vegetarian
Hotel accommodation was lovely although the bathroom needs refreshing. Evening menu in the restaurant was very limited. There was only one vegetarian option for the main course which was not to my daughter's taste. We asked if there was an alternative but there was nothing available.
Friendly service, welcoming and comfortable environment.
Enjoyable stay, but with one or two reservations.
This was our third stay at Cotswold House and our second this year, so obviously there is much that we like about the Hotel.
However, this time we did have problems choosing from a limited menu in both the Fig Restaurant and the Brasserie and we were aware of staff shortages at both Breakfast and Evening Meal. Also, when the food was presented the portion sizes were small and the evening menu did not give the option of additional vegetables.
Lastly and for the second time since Easter, the final bill did not recognise that the 80 per room daily allowance included drinks as well as food, and as a result we were charged separately for our wine.
Needs a manager running things
This was a lovely hotel and spa, the reception staff were lovely and friendly but the bar staff were not so helpful and it seems it was not being ran by anyone with authority. Our table in reception had empty glasses on and four members of staff walked past and ignored them while we sat there for at least an hour. We were not told there was a function on when we booked so we were not allowed in the bistro or allowed to order from the bistro menu, instead we ate in the fig restaurant which although very nice was not really value for money, Nobody seemed to know what anyone else was doing and each member of staff had to ask other members of staff questions about everything. Halfway through being served at the bar for drinks a lady (possibly the manager) came over with a tray of drinks and told our bar person to go and give them out leaving my husband standing. As I say, a nice place in a lovely location but could do with a manger
Sunday night away
The hotel is in a great location, in the middle of chipping Camden.we were in room 25 at the top of the hotel ,good size room and very clean.
We eat in the restaurant ,food very nice , but portions VERY small for the price, also don t look at the online menu ,they don t use that ,completely different menu which was disappointing.
Breakfast good ,staff not so friendly as the evening staff.
