Fabulous stay!
What a lovely hotel! The staff were amazing, so friendly and efficient.
The staff on the front desk were so helpful and couldn t do enough for us.
The room (lake view) had the most amazing view, a huge bed, lovely and comfortable.
I noticed some of the reviews said it was cold but I m always cold and our room was lovely and warm.
Breakfast was brilliant quality and again the staff were lovely.
Spa was fab, and great to have a child free space to relax.
Would definitely come again.
(Just a small tip is that if you want a taxi in the evening book early as there are only a few, need to book in the day for the evening or at least an hour before.)
Staff
Vanessa was a great help on our arrival, as we have an electric car and had problems with the charger, she spent time with us and was very patient, she is an asset to the hotel.
Could not fault the hotel in any way
Had a weekend away at the hotel was amazing could not fault the hotel in any way
The Daffodil meets all its promises and more
My wife and I spent three wonderful days here.and were pampered by the Daffodil's excellent staff. We are both in our eighties and my wife has mobility issues so we can recommend this hotel to anyone with similar. problems. Our room was spacious, overlooking the lake and with a walk in shower. The whole hotel and lovely grounds were easily accessible. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, relaxed and comfortable, and served top quality food I was told the waiters were in training, though you would not have known that because of their very efficient service. We were very sorry to leave a hotel where we both felt it was worth every penny and we could not find one fault.Thank you Daffodil.
Three days in September 2024
Firstly all the staff were outstandingly pleasant and could not do enough to help. They engaged with guests, were friendly but respectful and seemed to enjoy what they were doing.
My wife has Alzheimer s and also has some physical disabilities so we were initially delighted that the room provided had a wet room fully equipped for wheelchair users . My wife does not need a wheelchair
However we soon discovered that there are disadvantages. There was no shelf or stand anywhere on which to place toiletries. There was no mirror above the very small washbasin to allow me to shave. There was a large wall mounted mirror about three feet away. There are a multitude of grab rails but no towel rails. The grab rails were either placed vertically or very low so that towels could trail on the floor. These are meant to be constructive comments rather than complaints.I did not ,in view of our short stay and the the unlikely possibility of an available alternative, make any comment at the time of our visit.
The restaurant that we used was on the first floor with many tables having windows overlooking the grounds leading down to the lake - excellent .Breakfast was also excellent. The dinner menu remained unchanged from day to day whilst we were there and we both found it a bit limited. The waiting staff were,as mentioned, excellent.
We did not use the spa facilities.
The Hotel is very easy to find, being directly on the A591, the only north /south route through the lakes and therefore quite busy making leaving the car park less easy than we would like. However the hotel is on the lakeside with extensive grounds leading direct to the private lake shore and a large car park and also within easy walking distance of the centre of Grasmere village.
We paid almost 1000 for three nights bed , breakfast and dinner which we consider was not exceptional value.
Overall we consider the hotel is quite good at what they do and their staff lifts its ratings considerably .
Its position in the middle of the Northern lakes makes it attractive for many.
Best of the best
Daffodil Spa and Hotel is probably one of the best resorts I have been to in the Lake District. From making the booking to arriving the staff went above and beyond 5 star service. A slight mistake with the room was immediately rectified with profuse apologies. Our room was absolutely beautiful with a fabulous view of the surrounding mountains. The hotel facilities had something to suit everyone and the spa provided the best massage I have had in a long time. I was a little disappointed that there was no real swimming pool but everything else was great. The food was delicious and plenty of it especially at breakfast to set you up for a day of exploring Grassmere and the surrounding area. Prices are a bit expensive but worth every penny in my opinion.
Fabulous position.
Top marks for Spa ,position and rooms. Our main disappointment was the choice of food - same menu every day. Also as we are old we find sour dough bread inedible a choice of 'yeast based' bread would have been nice as the toast was the usual cold commercial cut loaf.
