Crossing the courtyard.
Too cold wet and miserable back and forth across courtyard to room 100!
A bit like Faulty Towers!
When we arrived it was clear they were under staffed. It took quite a time to be booked-in. Initially we were pleasantly surprised by the room and the view. First thing I did was try to join the WiFi but we couldn t connect. Help from the front desk eventually arrived but to no avail. And still no WiFi when we left three days later! I wasn t able to access the TV in the room either.
I started reading my book but as the day turned into night the room started getting cold. There was no heating thermostat. When checking I was told the heating does not turn on until 7pm, this was at the end of November!! On our way to the bar before dinner we were surprised to see the big and very grand baronial hall empty with a large fireplace showing a sad flickering flame in one corner struggling to get going and throw out some warmth. The next morning after breakfast the relaid hearth was still struggling whilst some brave guests were huddling under blankets- stiff upper lip! Oh, and at various points over the weekend I asked for a light bulb to be changed so I could read my book but this didn t happen!
On the whole this was a very disappointing weekend.
Relaxing getaway
We booked this midweek stay for my wife's birthday with a view to having a relaxing few days being pampered and we were not disappointed. From start to finish it was exactly what we were looking for - Quiet, comfortable, luxurious...
The setting is lovely and amenities are what you would expect from hotel like this. However what set Danesfield apart was the sense of quiet and space. Unlike some other hotels where it feels like the hotel has shoehorned in as many people as possible, Danesfield feels just right, not empty and maintaining a lovely ambience but also entirely peaceful and relaxing.
Staff are extremely helpful and do all they can to ensure your stay is as good as it can be. The building itself is grand with a real sense of history. We honestly struggled to pick any kind of fault with our stay. We'll be back.
Beautiful hotel - 5 stars from us!
Very luxurious, romantic ambience.
Lovely staff, rooms, grounds, food and spa. Would love to come back!
Super break
Absolutely lovely only one thing puts you off is the service charge which is way over 10% and it s added on everything even the drink taken at the bar. I would like to add a charge if thought great service and would expect it in restaurant but found it a little over the top. However all said and done it was a super stay.
Great stay
The hotel was amazing our room was out of this world. Service the best I have had. The parking on site was a bit hit and miss as they had an event on. I think priority for parking should be given to guests staying. It was my partners birthday and they made him feel special. An amazing hotel will definitely book again.
Another wonderful break
This was our 4th stay at Danesfield house and as on each previous occasion, it was genuinely excellent. It s a good sign when the staff are not formulaic in their conversations and everyone we spoke to had the confidence to engage and chat. Our room was pristine and the champagne that we had ordered was ready and waiting properly chilled. Dinner was absolutely superb! The flavours of the starters beautifully shaking up the taste buds before the well balanced main course. A huge comfortable bed and a room at a comfortable temperature. Breakfast was as good as ever. I unfortunately didn t note the name of the gentleman who welcomed us to breakfast but I know he s been there for quite a few years and was as courteous as ever. No buffet here! Freshly squeezed orange juice. Breakfast served plated as ordered, plenty of really good strong tea, toast with Tiptree (of course!) jams and marmalade.
This hotel gets it right!
Lovely relaxing stay
We booked a 1-night champagne break and it was such a treat. Beautiful hotel with a lovely pool and jacuzzi area. The food at the restaurant was fantastic, as was breakfast. We had a lovely wander in the extensive grounds and were treated to some beautiful views of the Thames. Would recommend
