Excellent hotel for a relaxing break with good food and located next to Loch Rannoch

Richard, Somerset, stayed: September 2018

Our stay at Dunalastair Hotel was our first in the Scottish Highlands and we were not disappointed. The hotel staff, rooms and food were of a very good standard. The room had a decent size fridge, microwave and sink unit but it did not feel you were in a self catering unit as these items fitted in perfectly with the well decorated / appointed room with a comfortable bed and relaxing chairs. The room had a bathroom with a walk in shower, but no bath (Maybe an issue for some). The restaurant had a relaxing atmosphere and the quality of food was excellent, but maybe a more varied menu would be an advantage, but we understood the Head Chef was new and he was getting use to the new surroundings. All of the staff were very polite and helpful. Our room overlooked the village square but there was noise issues at all, as my wife would have noticed immediately. The location is very scenic and next to Loch Rannock. There are also plenty of local walking opportunities although we went further afield by car to visit other attractions. It will take you at least 30 mins to get to other locations, but we found that this was not a problem as the hotel central location in the highlands meant that you could visits locations in all directions of the compass. Overall we would certainly recommend a stay at this hotel. We will certainly return at some time in the future, sooner rather than later. Don't miss out.

Our stay in Scotland

Charles B, stayed: August 2018

If you want to experience a true Scotland getaway, this hotel was perfect for us. The views and the outdoor hiking is a must. The staff was wonderful offering day trips to nearby towns. Our package included dinners and the menu was excellent along with the wine selections.

Thank you, John and Richard, for making this part of our vacation so memorable.

Top quality in a cracking location

David M, stayed: July 2018

Owners have done a good job of modernising a traditional hotel into the standards expected of a top quality hotel in the 21st century. Although some might prefer more traditional furniture, our bedroom and wet room style shower were fitted out to a high standard. Facilities were top notch.
Breakfast was as good as we have experienced anywhere.
Our only slight disappointment was the evening meal. It was good, but perhaps not as good as the rest of the experience and not special enough to be considered good value at the price paid.
Final point is to complement the staff. Friendly, polite, helpful and well trained. All willing to spend time in conversation with customers to ensure a favourable experience.

A great short break

Harry O, stayed: May 2018

we booked three rooms for a two day break in early may and were delighted by the quality of service and accommodation. The hotel restaurant also provides a great dinner option in a place where there is limited alternative choice. All in all a great hotel and we will be back.

Hidden Gem

Michael D, Inverness-Shire, stayed: November 2017

Dunalastair is amazing. They get the first impression bang on and from then on they keep getting it right.
The rooms are lovely, crisp cool linen on a massively comfy bed, fluffy towels and bathrobes and the offer of a turn down service - nice touch.  The restaurant have got it just right too - knowledgeable staff for whom nothing is a bother and the food is delicious - plenty choice too.  Breakfast was great - again plenty of choice - the coffee is delicious.
