Superb in every way.

Paul J, Somerset, stayed: November 2018

I do not often leave reviews but felt it is well deserved here. Our stay at Fishmore Hall was superb in every way. On arrival there was an apology from a member of staff in having to wait just five minutes whilst the receptionist was dealing with a phone call. On checking in our room was upgraded and was excellent, spotlessely clean, spacious, comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom with a large bath and wet room area for the large shower. The stay was with the "Gourmet Package" of a Tasting Menu the first evening and the A La Carte the following evening. The food on both evenings was excellent, especially the Tasting Menu to which we added the wine flite, also excellent in choices and quality of wines. The chef and his team are producing food of the highest quality, and added pleasure of being served by such a friendly, very efficient and informative dining room team explaining what each course is in a very friendly and unfussy way, both with the food and the wines.

The stay was part of a mini tour of the area to mark a 60th birthday and be pampered with good surroundings and good food for a few days. The hotel had not been made aware of this but I can certainly say there is nothing more anyone could have done to make this a special occasion.

Superb.

Country Hotel

Christina, Anglesey, stayed: November 2018

We felt that the hotel lacked the country hotel feel. The public room decor and furnishings were very basic and the restaurant was again very basic and lacking in imagination. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The breakfast was okay, not the best. The two evening meals were fantastic, they have obviously got a brilliant chef.

A wonderful experience!

Rod E, Leicestershire, stayed: September 2018

We would probably have never chosen this lovely hotel but for the fact that we had been given a voucher for a Christmas present, but, how glad we were that we had! We had a most stunning room with a spectacular view over the Shropshire countryside.
We had deliberately chosen a date when we could feast on the eight course taster menu dinner (without the 'matching wine' supplement - we were driving the following day!)
What a good choice that was. Truly beautiful food, elegantly served by very attentive staff with a great sense of fun (so much better than pompous staff we have met elsewhere!)
Breakfast was equally impressive and set us up nicely for the day ahead.
Thanks to all concerned at Fishmore Hall for a great experience.

Fishmore Hotel - Food Lovers Gourmet Midweek Break

RR, Clwyd, stayed: March 2017

We stayed at the hotel for the 2 night food lovers gourmet midweek break to celebrate my husband's birthday. The hotel has been lovingly restored and is very welcoming; on arrival we were upgraded to an executive room which had lovely views across the fields to Ludlow. As we arrived at lunchtime we had lunch at the hotel and decided to walk into Ludlow; it takes a good 20 minutes. We had meals both nights at the hotel, a la carte and taster; the food was excellent, as was the restaurant and bar staff. We couldn't fault the quality of the food or service. After our first night we turned the bed down and noticed that the mattress was badly stained, so much so that we mentioned it to the receptionist who said she would look into it and get it changed. On our return after our day out and about, we were informed that they couldn't change it as they were fully booked and if we weren't happy to stay there we could change accommodation to a hotel in town! This would put us at a distinct disadvantage as we were dining there that night. No other alternative was given and were told that there are mattress protectors on the beds as if that was enough; but how good were the protectors anyway! We were disappointed with the response as we had no satisfaction from our complaint. It didn't spoil our stay but leaves you with a feeling of frustration. Also if you want to use the spa there is a 15 charge to use the sauna and steam room even if you are a resident; treatments are extra on top of the initial charge. One more thing if you do stay and dine there gratuities are automatically charged to your bill when you checkout, although it is not mentioned anywhere. On the whole we enjoyed our stay and Ludlow itself is beautiful, the hotel is lovely and the restaurant and food are exceptional; but it could have been so much more had the hotel lived up to our expectations of the reviews we had read prior to booking.
