Facilities at Hatton Court

Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home, the feeling is one of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand.

Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush.

The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complimented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other's company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room.

The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good nights sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds. Just 3 miles from Gloucester, this is a perfect base to explore all the history and heritage that the City of Gloucester has to offer.

With large panoramic windows that take full advantage of the breathtaking views of the Severn Vale and the distant Malvern Hills, the spectacular location of the 1 AA Rosette Tara Restaurant is matched with genuinely warm hospitality, fine food and an extensive selection of wines.

In summer months you can enjoy alfresco dining on the terraces or just simply enjoy an aperitif and canapés, coffee and petit fours, or a glass of champagne as the sun slips behind the distant hills. During the winter, log fires roar in the reception and lounge, the perfect spot to indulge in a fine Vintage Port or aged Cognac.

Okay for a short break

PD, Ayrshire, stayed: March 2019

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was located on the ground floor at the back of the hotel with a limited view. Although we were offered a money contribution towards our evening meal, it was very disappointing. The fish and gnocci were badly overcooked though staff were very attentive. Breakfast in the other hand was well prepared and delicious.

Great getaway

Anon, stayed: March 2019

A two day stay in a lovely hotel was what we expected and its what we had. The afternoon tea was great and the staff couldn't be more helpful. If anything the hotel website made a big deal of the restaurant and local produce but it didn't carry through to the menu that could have highlighted where this was the case. The food was lovely.

Not good enough

AT, Hampshire, stayed: March 2019

The staff were cheerful under very difficult circumstances. There hotel was seriously understaffed for Sunday breakfast and there were long walts to be served. The "executive" room ersuite had a badly cracked and chipped washbasin (old damage)and the water was so hot it was impossible to use the whb. The bath was large and difficult to access with a fixed shower. (I am fairly agile and play table tennis twice a week but found it difficult) In need of updating. The "executive" rooms were across a courtyard from the restaurant and main hotel, the provision of umbrellas would have been useful

Slow bar service and rapid restaurant service!

Laura M, West Midlands, stayed: February 2019

Nice hotel, room was ok - comfy bed and good wardrobe space. We were in the annex building.
The service in the bar when we arrived was painfully slow. No one around and no way of letting someone know we were waiting! Conversely the service in the restaurant was ridiculously speedy - there weren t many diners and I got the feeling that they wanted to get us in and out as fast as possible. Starters had hardly been swallowed before mains arrived and the waitress hurried us to choose desserts. The food was tasty. Breakfast was busy and we had to wait to be seated and for our food.
It wasn t a very personal service - we had booked a winter getaway deal that gave us a free glass of champagne, but we had to ask for it. The young lady behind the bar asked if we wanted Prosecco, which we didn t. She toddled off to get the last bottle of champagne, which was warm and so a bit disappointing to be honest.
It was ok for a last minute overnight away.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was nice although the bathroom could benefit from some updating. We enjoyed both our dinner and the breakfast in the restaurant. They seemed a bit under staffed but the people were very nice and we didn't mind waiting. Very easy to find, close to the motor way and about 20 mins from Gloucester.
