Facilities at Hatton Court

Hatton Court is a reassuring size; not large and impersonal, nor too small. As a former splendid Cotswold home, the feeling is one of being eminently comfortable as opposed to grand.

Nothing is hurried. The reception is very much a lounge, with leather sofas, magazines and an open fireplace for those chillier days. Next door the bar is more a place to relax, take tea, read and talk than to rush.

The care taken to prepare the food, combined with a smiling service, is complimented by the thought that has gone into creating the Tara restaurant. Fully refurbished in late 2009 the natural colours and soft lighting make a relaxing environment for friends and relations to enjoy each other's company. Private dining facilities are available in the equally well appointed Cotswold Room.

The peace of the surrounding countryside and comfortable bedrooms, some with whirlpool baths, make for a good nights sleep ready for another day exploring the Cotswolds. Just 3 miles from Gloucester, this is a perfect base to explore all the history and heritage that the City of Gloucester has to offer.

The Tara Restaurant

With large panoramic windows that take full advantage of the breathtaking views of the Severn Vale and the distant Malvern Hills, the spectacular location of the 1 AA Rosette Tara Restaurant is matched with genuinely warm hospitality, fine food and an extensive selection of wines.

We had a fabulous time here for the weekend for my wife's birthday. Great staff, great food and service in the restaurant. Mr George was GM and made Sarah's birthday extra special.

Hatton Court

JR, Staffordshire, stayed: July 2019

Booked for a relaxing break which we did not get. We were allocated a room in the annex along with the coach parties who woke us each morning at around 7.00am. There was talking in the corridors, slaming of doors and general noise. The bathroom was in need of refurbishment crack in hand basin cracked floor and wall tiles, and a toilet that when flushed almost over flowed, this was reported but nothing changed. The choice of food in the restaurant was poor chose the liver on the first evening, but it was over cooked, consequently we chose to eat out the other evenings. At breakfast the marmalade and jam were in glass pots which were then passed on to other tables, not very hygienic in my opinion.Overall a very poor stay,

Anne J, Gwent, stayed: July 2019

Enjoyed our stay.Clean, comfortable and staff were welcoming and friendly.
Plenty of places to sit in the hotel and outside.
Need a car to get to places of interest.
I d probably request a room away from the car park as this could be noisy in the mornings but not a huge problem.
We would recommend.

Relaxing break

AB, West Midlands, stayed: July 2019

We have been here before so knew to expect a good stay. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff are exceedingly helpful - but there aren't enough of them!! Our room was lovely, 4 poster bed and jacuzzi. The food in the restaurant is exceptionally good. However, getting served is a slightly different matter. Despite the best efforts of the staff (and they work very hard), there were 4 waiting on tables the first night, which worked quite well. Only 1 the second night which was totally impossible and the poor waitress had to go and get assistance. Two people "managed", but needed more. Same for breakfast. Four the first morning, who still struggled - we waited 15 minutes to order. On the second morning only 2, who could not cope with the numbers. People were waiting up to 45 minutes for their breakfast. Another small point - our complimentary newspaper failed to arrive the second morning. So, we enjoyed our stay, loved the food, the staff were very friendly - but they need more of them!! Would we stay again? The jury is still out!

A nice place to be, but check if theres a wedding on

Jessica, Hampshire, stayed: July 2019

We have been here several times, always in the winter months, we booked it again for a summer break in June and arrived to a full car park and right in the middle of a wedding. - we couldn't use the terrace as it was full of wedding guests.
The hotel is great, but on this occasion I have to say I felt like an extra in a movie, there were so many photographs being taken, and our terrace was being used for filming too so someone had to come in and collect the camera. We had no mention of this at check in either. We felt that we couldn't relax. The loud music in the marquee out the back went on till 1:20AM too, so we didn't get any sleep. again no mention that this would happen during our stay. I think in future if we stay again it will be out of the normal wedding season, when the open fires are on and no one gets married then. If you go out of season to stay it great, and the restaurant food is lovely when ever you go.
