4 night (expected) Luxury break in executive twin room at Lakeside Park Hotel & Spa- I.of Wight

Di & Jean , East Sussex, stayed: May 2024

We are two widows who d paid 440 p.p. each for a shared twin bedded room (b.& b. only)- in mid -May, for 4 nights mid-week stay near Ryde on I.of Wight. ( Ferry not included).

We booked what was described as an executive room , expecting it to have a higher spec. than a standard for a long awaited break.
It was so disappointing to find that the room was cramped for two beds- had to be together- and various faults came to light- like a bedside lamp didn t work, the inside bathroom extractor didn t seem to work.
The TV was old- the carpets needed a clean and the executiveness with no fridge, wasn t apparent!
We asked at reception whether they had made a mistake but the new girl tried and had to tell us that all the rooms are called executive & we had a lake view( road the other side!) not the car park, so that was it! We decided to eat in on first night as tired- So expensive and pitiful meal, never again!
Everything had an extra price tag for spa etc. so we didn t use it!
5 out of 10 rating for us. We felt we should have had a refund for misrepresenting a standard (like Premier Inn!) as Executive ??
To add salt into the wound for Di- I have stayed this week in. B.&b. in a village near Bicester,( for Oxford by train). Its ratings were very high and it was amazing-large airy twin room in a Georgian House in beautiful grounds with wonderful service! It was exactly half the price- per room, and included a superb breakfast!

Good location and staff but disappointing spa facilities

Derek, Devon, stayed: January 2024

We enjoyed our four night stay here. However the primary reason for booking was to take advantage of the spa facilities. Unfortunately, the steam room was out of action, the swimming pool was too cold and none of the jets was working. The jacuzzi was luke-warm rather than normal jacuzzi temperature. Despite reporting this twice during the stay, the situation was not resolved. Very disappointing.

Brasserie review

Ken, Surrey, stayed: September 2021

The breakfast in the brasserie was okay, but would have liked some different bread, rather than just sliced to go in the toaster, service was good at breakfast.
The evening meal was very limited, not a lot of variety, would have liked more choice, maybe some pasta and curries and more choice of vegetables, the food was well cooked but just not very exciting menu.
The last night of our stay we spent 45minutes waiting for our starter and another 30minutes after that to get our main course and was then told they didn't have any fish that my wife had asked for, she ended up having a side salad and fries, also we had side plates on the table but was told there were no rolls or bread! Certainly not what you would expect from a four star hotel, the brasserie manager was very apologetic and we had free coffee and the staff were all pleasant, but we just didn't feel that it was four star service. Overall we enjoyed our break but certainly some improvements need to be made.

Two day break

HW, Oxfordshire, stayed: August 2021

My husband and I had a lovely 2 days and enjoyed the Isle of Wight and our hotel. All the staff were engaged and friendly. The only disappointment was the evening menu wasn t very extensive and it was the same for both nights.

A nice break

Richard from Kent, stayed: September 2020

We wanted to get away for a short break and understood the restrictions in place due to Covid 19. The hotel made sure everything was safe and the restrictions did not stop us from enjoying our stay. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Small Issues

Michael H, Surrey, stayed: September 2020

Temperature check not taken on arrival or during our stay..
On arrival informed we had to book a time slot for dinner - unaware, only early and late available.
Had to ask for box of chocolates, not in room on arrival.
Limited menu choice and did not change during our stay
