A Real Hidden Gem

HB, Leicestershire, stayed: May 2019

We recently spent three nights and at The Lugger in Portloe. It was a little piece of heaven! A hidden gem totally off the beaten track and not particularly frequented by hoards of tourists which was perfect! The Lugger is a little boutique hotel that serves great food, has a fab wine list and even thinks of little touches such as homemade muffins and cookies wrapped in brown paper in our room when we got back after a day out, hot chocolate and marshmallows in our room when we returned at night and a little goodbye goodie bag of sweeties and glass bottles of water. Lovely touches. Staff and service was excellent at all times. The location is perfect for fabulous coastal walks but other other attractions, places to visit are also accessible by car. We loved our late afternoons on the terrace with aperitifs looking out onto the harbour and out to sea when we got back from a day out. We felt totally de-stressed after just a few days and would definitely go again! Loved this place.

Lovely hotel in a tiny, beautiful fishing village

Sam, South Wales, stayed: May 2019

The hotel itself is quite literally on the water and in a fantastic spot. Staff were generally very friendly and helpful.

- Restaurant was lovely, food fantastic but lacked atmosphere
- Rooms were clean, comfy and well equipped
- The spa was being refurbished when we stayed and were not made aware of this - for such a small village and so little to do, this was a big miss.
- I d informed the hotel that we were bringing a dog whilst booking, however on arrival they said they didn t know and I was charged an additional 15 which was a bit annoying.

Excellent Hotel in Quiet Location

P S, Dorset, stayed: April 2019

The Lugger is an excellent seaside small village hotel. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. The rooms are very well equipped to a high standard. Both dinner and breakfast was top class. There is a small outside tabled area near the bar overlooking the harbour.

The hotel is a member of Bespoke Hotels and it lives up to this name.
