Return to the Lugger

KH, Merseyside, stayed: September 2019

We first came to the Lugger Hotel for our honeymoon in 1984. Having recently taken early retirement , I booked a 4 night stay as part of my husband s 60th birthday.we were not disappointed ; thereception staff were all extremely welcoming as were the waiters. The food was delicious . We had a lovely time , thankyou so much and we hope not to leave it too long before we return .

Romantic night away

Anon, stayed: September 2019

Me and my partner stayed here for the night, the village is cute (although small - no shops etc) and the hotel is like a little gem nestled in the centre down by the harbour. It is authentic, has a great atmosphere, really lovely bar area, and you feel like the whole thing is a treat - from the fresh fruit and cookies they leave in your room, to the wonderful toiletries and hot chocolate before bedtime. The bed and bedding and pillows were all good quality, the only thing I would say is the restaurant could have slightly more warmth and cosiness to it, but only if I had to pick one thing.

A lovely hotel in a unique spot!

Stephanie, stayed: July 2019

The Lugger Hotel came highly recommended and did not disappoint. It was very cute, and the rooms were beautifully done and comfortable. Plus, it has a fabulous restaurant. The tiny fishing port was gorgeous with amazing cliff walks either side. Guest parking is a huge bonus.

Relaxing 3 night break

Anthony, Devon, stayed: June 2019

Returning to the Lugger after a stay some years ago, was just as delightful. Nestled in a tiny Cornish cove, we were as close to the sea as you could get, which made a superb backdrop to look at over dinner! Every member of the Lugger team were keen to make everyone s stay a relaxing and happy time & with top drawer but unpretentious dining, we think it s a real gem and very much look forward to going there again.

Just this place for Enid Blyton

MC, Essex, stayed: June 2019

Portloe is a delightful little harbour and fishing village exactly right for smugglers and an Enid Blyton adventure. No doubt the fishermen will take them out on their boats. The Lugger is just by the harbour and what is sometimes called a boutique hotel i.e. small but well presented. The dining room has wonderful views of the harbour. The breakfast was excellent (though requests not to have the fried bread, for example, didn't seem to work). Dinner was good but not quite as good as it thought it was and a little overpriced. The sauces were not as interesting as they might have been and though I paid extra for the fillet steak it wasn't up to standard I normally get from Waitrose! Bath was rather small. Well it was a boutique hotel!
