History of the hotel

As part of the Barony of Combe, The Manor House was very much the heart of the breathtaking medieval village of Castle Combe.

Originally built in the 14th century to replace a Norman Castle that had fallen into a state beyond repair, The Manor House had many Lords of the Manor. The most influential of which, is believed to be Sir John Falstaff who was immortalised by Shakespeare in Henry IV. The Barony of Combe continued for some 850 years until 1947 when The Manor House was sold and has sympathetically evolved to become a beautiful hotel, capturing the essence of it's historical charm.

A Luxury Night away

Ian J, Herts, stayed: November 2018

The Dinner Bed and Breakfast offer was great value. The Room was like a mini appartment in the main house. Spent the afternoon exploring Castle Combe which is beautiful picturesque village outside the gates of the hotel, with lunch at one of the local pubs. Fortunately at this time of year there are few tourists, so no seasonal crowds. The evening meal was Michelin star quality with the escolopes sweet and tender. My Venison was melt in the mouth. The staff were very helpful and hospitable. I will keep an eye out for the return of this offer as it was excellent value for money

Fabulous

SP, Hertfordshire, stayed: October 2018

Stayed here with family to celebrate my wife's birthday & we all loved it.
It is expensive (by our standards at least) but well worth it.
The Bybrook restaurant is exceptional & the service throughout was friendly & welcoming but also very efficient.
And to cap it all, a short stroll away is the beautiful village of Castle Combe.

A Wonderful place to celebrate retirement

EK, Hertfordshire, stayed: September 2018

Thank you for an amazing stay at the Manor Hotel. We came to celebrate my husbands retirement from many years as a hardworking and popular GP. He needed to relax and enjoy a stress free weekend and we certainly had that. Everything was better then we had expected from the luxurious, idyllic cottage to the fabulous meals we enjoyed and the stunning surroundings of the hotel. We were particularly impressed with the care to attention in the restaurant ( including the fact that each meal time the GF options were always taken into consideration without us mentioning a thing!)
Just one very minor suggestion, would be to include a kettle in the kitchen of the cottage.

A REAL TREAT!

JK, Monmouthshire, stayed: September 2018

This was our second visit to The Manor House and, as previously, it did not fail to meet our expectations overall. Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds with attentive, helpful and efficient staff. A minor irritation however was having to wait for over an hour for our starters to be served in the restaurant. We hope to return again soon.

Treat

KK, stayed: September 2018

Stayed for our wedding anniversary.
Room was huge. And very comfortable.
Staff really helpful and the meal was delicious.
Only issue I have would be the use of pod machine for tea/ coffee in the room. as a tea drinker this was not a good cup of tea with no choice on strength/ amount of water you add. A teapot and kettle make a much better cuppa.
The grounds were amazing unfortunately we had a long drive there and had a long drive next day so little time to explore them.... hopefully next time as would definitely stay again.
