Facilities at Moorland Garden Hotel

Located in 'War Horse' country, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, just minutes away from Plymouth city centre, Tavistock and close to the border with Cornwall, we are the place to be for dining, leisure, business and special occasions. Nestling in nine acres of stunning and tranquil moorland garden, our four suites are luxurious and tastefully decorated, the en-suite bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped and our hotel and event teams are friendly and helpful.

The Wildflower Restaurant has views across the garden onto Dartmoor, making it a popular place for lunch, dinner and Sunday lunch. Devon Cream Teas are served in the Lounge or in the picturesque garden. The Dartmoor Bar has a relaxed atmosphere, where your four legged friend is welcome, open daily for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, serving real ale, fine wines and soft drinks.

Leaving the untamed splendour of Dartmoor, the City of Plymouth is just a short drive away, with its magnificent natural harbour overlooked by the famous Plymouth Hoe, where it is said Sir Francis Drake once played bowls and the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America in the Mayflower almost 400 years ago.

Rather disappointing stay, room OK with views of the garden but food and attitudes disappointing.

AH, London, stayed: October 2018

A well positioned hotel for the Moors, but disappointing to find same menu every night, breakfasts were hit and miss with overcooked items and undercooked items on the same plate, very little choice of fruit or yoghurt. The chef's attitude to a returned dish was very odd, a feeling of take it or leave it emanated from the kitchen. Reception were friendly enough, but overall no-one appeared to be in charge. Our balcony had soaking wet, filthy cushions for lounge type seats which could not be used, every other balcony had nice chairs and a table.

Great Little Find

IR, Avon, stayed: September 2018

All staff very friendly, welcoming and polite. The food was delicious with a good selection for
breakfast. The room, which was overlooking the garden was fine,, not cold and with plenty of space.
In places it needed a little TLC but don't let this put you off staying here.
We had a very enjoyable stay and it is perfectly situated in a quiet location for exploring Dartmoor.
I would happily stay here again.

TK Brighton, stayed: September 2018

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel for 5 days in September. We found the staff at reception really helpful. We enjoyed the food and the ambience in the restaurant but sometimes there was not enough room for my legs as I am quite tall.
I was disappointed with the room service as I did not feel that enough attention was given to the room.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay again

MM, Cornwall, stayed: August 2018

We had a very enjoyable stay. The room, however, was a bit tired - threadbare carpet in some places, water staining around the windows, scuffed paintwork especially on the skirting boards. Some of the outside of the hotel needed painting and cleaning. Breakfast on the second morning was rather chaotic - new staff? Public areas inside were excellent.
This sounds very critical but certain things need attending to make the hotel as good as it could be. We had a good experience overall and certainly enjoyed our two dinners.
