Very happy with our second time here. Maybe at our age the second floor is a bit of a struggle!

over-rated and very poor value for money

Nigel, Kent, stayed: September 2018

We were allocated a small barely double room with standard 4'6 bed at the top of the house - 46 stairs in all. This despite my wife being unable to walk well due to sciatica. No alternative and no upgrade was offered.
Evening meal was a disaster. We waited 40 minutes after being called to the table for our starter and then 30 minutes for our main course. Mine was inedible due to over use of salt. And looked like a dogs dinner. This was NOT fine dining
Next day we threatened to leave and were allocated a ground floor room but with stairs down to the bathroom. Evening meal passable - again NOT fine dining.
Spa was good but pricey.
Overall - this is an establishment riding on its past success, now nowhere up to the standard to be expected for a fee of 650 for 2 nights

Good stay

BM, Hampshire, stayed: August 2018

This is a lovely hotel and nearly everything about our stay was good. Lovely room, superb bathroom, great spa and delicious evening meal nice lounge, lovely grounds. But service a bit lacking at times. We had to remind staff to bring afternoon tea after we d ordered, also our wine order for dinner was forgotten and we had to remind about our after dinner coffee. Other service was good so let down by these niggles. Breakfast quality mediocre which was disappointing after the high quality of dinner.

Lovely Spa but disappointed with restaurant

KM, East Sussex, stayed: December 2017

I took my husband for a surprise break with the dinner, bed and breakfast package. The Spa is really good and room lovely. However the restaurant let's the hotel down in our view. Service was inconsistent and not to the level I'd expect for such a hotel. The vegetarian options were not great and I'd have been most disappointed if paying 60 for the 3 course meal. Breakfast was also poor and service haphazard.

Lovely quiet location in a lovely village

Anon, stayed: June 2017

Very lovely quiet location. Welcoming staff. A bit of a disconnect between the hotel and the spa in communication. We would have appreciated more help with our luggage as we moved from the spa upgraded room to the main hotel building. Very nice food. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to friends etc.
