Luxury Weekend Break
The hotel was very pleasant and the food and staff were good, though I would not call this a luxury hotel which was indicated.
review of Regency Park Hotel
The hotel was not luxurious; it seemed to lack a firm management presence. There were far too many small items which showed a lack of care or thought. The room was fine but I had to order newspapers daily which were meant to be part of the deal; there was no toilet brush; no dressing gowns, tables in the restaurant were wobbly and there was no attempt to put this right, there was no drinking water provided and I had to ask specially so that I could take pills. The food in the restaurant represented young men's appetite and lacked finesse and style; the staff seemed willing but untrained.
Customer friendly service made for a pleasant weekend break
The staff at this hotel had all embraced the importance of good customer service delivered in a very pleasant manner. This made up for the weather which was grey and dreary. We took full advantage of the leisure facilities provided by the hotel which included an excellent sized swimming pool and a good gym which gave us an option for when it got dark. We very much enjoyed the 3-course evening meal which was part of our deal. The breakfast was good although the cold buffet choice was somewhat limited. The cooked breakfast was good. Our room was spacious which made for a comfortable stay.
Not the experience expected.
No champagne and chocolates in the room, but room was a good size and clean. Bathroom door had a mind of it's own. Looped Christmas music in the downstairs areas was just too much - how many times does anyone want to hear Bandaid and Jonah Louie et al? Restaurant food OK but the hotel must have had loads of sprouts and carrots left over from Xmas. They were not listed on the menu and definitely not wanted. Not enough time between meal courses. Coffee at breakfast time was awful (but coffee from the bar was lovely). Very nice and attentive female barperson but drinks and sandwiches came out not as ordered, but the latter was very nice. The female receptionist very pleasant and helpful. Restaurant waiter on the second night had no knowledge of the English language. To me this is a hotel geared to one-stay business users and for that purpose it would be very good I'm sure.
Not Luxury
This hotel is clearly a business hotel and lacks any character. The hotel provides large clean rooms, staff are friendly and helpful and food okay. Apparently Friday and Saturday nights menu is the same and as such disappointing as no choice for vegetarians only same again. I would not expect to pay more than 250 for a break like this.
Lovely
Our stay at the Regency was all that was expected. Friendly staff and a nice comfortable room.
