Forest Escape

RM, Dorset, stayed: February 2019

Not all that easy to find - the on-line directions assume you are coming from the East, there seems little help from the Ringwood direction. Better signposting would be an advantage. However it is a luxurious environment in splendid surroundings - the grounds with its pools and fountains etc are exceptional. The room was a good size, with plenty of local information - refreshment facilities and telephone worked well, and the bathroom excellent. Judging a hotel by the sumptiousness of its bath towels puts this at the top. Also plenty of hot water for an excellent bath or shower. The Lounge Bar provides and interesting variety of drinks, worth staying longer to explore. The dining room has the tables a bit too close together for my taste, and the heavy panelling and wood carving makes it fairly dark. It's not always easy to see what you are eating when the dark sauce - good in itself - covers the various elements of the dish. Certainly tasty, but not always identifiable. The breakfast was magnificent in its variety. An enjoyable stay with much to explore during the day.

Enjoyed the hotel very much. A little disappointed with the spa facilities(swimming pool) much too small. Did expect a rather larger pool. But othsrwise the hotel, its position and the accommodation was lovely

Great break!

Linda, Hampshire, stayed: February 2019

We had a really nice two-day break as a party of six. The upgraded rooms were really lovely, the food was superb and the restaurant beautiful. Breakfast was also excellently cooked and served.
The only criticism we have is that the main lounge was not in service for all of our stay, with the bar being in a smaller, less ambient room. This was a pity as the main lounge/bar is a very relaxing and pleasant room, overlooking the fountain.
We were very impressed with the staff, who were efficient, friendly and professional.
