Ok but not great

BC, Gloucestershire, stayed: October 2018

Having heard for many years how good this place was and the quality of food in the restaurant, we were really looking forward to our break.
It is a nice hotel, but is tired in places and certainly not worth the normal room rate. We decided to reserve judgement until after dining. The food was ok - nothing fantastic or special so our overall feeling was that not worth 300 per night.
We have stayed in far better hotels with higher quality food for considerably less, so were we disappointed yes and would have said so if not staying with relatives who love the place and visit at least once every year.

The hotel is lovely , spa is nice with gorgeous views. The rooms are bit dated need modernisation particularly bathrooms. Nice balcony over looking river though in room. The service of the staff is brilliant and the food in the restaurant is out of this world. Would recommend.

Lovely stay ....

AE, North Yorks, stayed: September 2018

My husband booked this hotel last minute as a surprise for me following a particularly difficult week at work, it was a lovely break , the hotel and staff were most welcoming and helpful, it really was a lovely treat. Unfortunately we didn t get to use the spa so couldn t comment on that but everything else was fabulous. If I had to fault anything it would be a simple request of some better quality instant coffee in the room.... the filter coffee sachets certainly makes up for it, but even so a better quality instant would just Look better.
