We were very impressed with the receptionist who identified and advised us the original room we had been allocated would not be suitable so she made arrangements to alter this for us. Fantastic.

Beech Hill Hotel, Lake Windermere, room 10

BK, Staffordshire, stayed: October 2018

Someting of an expensive Curate's egg.
At first glance bedroom/bathroom looked fabulous BUT, a) One bedside light did not work and had to be replaced by another which was a mismatch. b) Television hanging off the wall. c) Could not work out how to operate the whirlpool bath (no instructions) d) No place to contain soap or shower gel in the shower. e) the washbasin let water out as fast as it was filled. The plug did not seal) f) the glass shelf above the basin was at exactly the correct height to split your forehead when trying to splash your face.
65 stairs from room 10 to the lounge and more from the car park to reception.
Restaurant was excellent and the 65 steps could have been forgiven if the management had ensured that there were no defects in the bedroom/bathroom.

Fantastic Hotel!

Anon, stayed: October 2018

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights during the week. Welcoming staff, beautiful room (appeared newly refurbished), bathroom was on the small side but very clean, beautiful view of the lake from the room. Restaurant food was superb, evening meal and breakfast. Could not fault the food. The hotel was lovely and warm and quiet. The spa was a lovely addition to the stay with a hot tub looking over the lake.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would definitely recommend to others

Not a luxury hotel - very tired, grubby in places and overpriced

Anon, stayed: October 2018

We booked a stay at Beech Hill for a surprise birthday celebration as the hotel website makes it look lovely. It is very misleading, in fact I m surprised they can get away with marketing themselves that way when it bears no reality. I m tempted to contact the tourist board and also request a part refund. I ll start with the positives; the hotel has an amazing view over the lake and the restaurant is nice with a lovely menu. Our room was very poor. It overlooked the lake but sadly we could hardly see the lake as the seal on the windows had broken so they were fully misted up all the time. The room can t have been updated for a good 20 years - the bathroom has mould in the seals and grouting and the bed head is really grubby and covered in stains. The furniture is scratched with ring marks. The spa looks new and has a nice pool, sauna and outdoor jacuzzi (the steam room was broken when we were there). However There was only one therapist (?!) working when we stayed so we had no chance of getting any treatments. It also only opens at 9am. I didn t make a fuss at the time as it would have been awkward given we d booked this as our friends present. However after the stay when I asked them what they really thought they were if the same opinion as us. OffPeakLuxury - don t associate yourself with this hotel.
