So disappointed!!

JP, Lancashire, stayed: August 2015

My husband and I have been coming to The Beech Hill Hotel for the last 10 years, in fact ever since he proposed to me there, so it has a special meaning for us. The premier plus rooms are the best, great views, jacuzzi for two and a real treat when booked through offpeakluxury.com with bubbly on arrival and free ferry tickets and 5 course meal every night. The food was one of the reasons we went back so often, it used to be superb and the restaurant was always packed. The menu was also always imaginitive featuring lobster, quail and wild boar .. something a bit different. However, on this last visit the food was awful, with a poor choice, extremely small portions and mainly tasteless. It was also served so fast that it was obvious that most dishes are made in advance and sat under heat lamps which rendered the chicken dish my husband had on the second night inedible as it was so congealed and dry. Upon complaining the staff didn't seem to know what to do and we could feel that the general morale was low with some even snapping at each other in their native tongue. I can only deduce that the chef and kitchen staff have changed and that the Hotel is trying to cut costs. Another suspect sign is what was once a lively restaurant was mostly empty on both nights and those were Friday & Saturday nights!!  I can't tell you how dissappointed we are and we will not be coming back unless something drastic changes in the kitchens. A huge shame.

Damp old hotel

Ian, Tyne and Wear, stayed: August 2015

We booked this hotel as a well earned luxury stay.  On arrival a lovely looking lakeside hotel. However the walk down the hallway to our room gave us great doubt that we were going to a luxury room, damp and dingy more like!  You could not fault the lake view.
The rest of the hotel lets it down badly.  Pool area old dated and dirty.  Poorly ran restaurant.

Great position but needs refurbishing

PW, Herts, stayed: July 2015

Our room was spoilt by smelly drains in the bathroom, which the hotel did little to rectify. They offered to change rooms, but the ones available were not as good. Generally the decor was tired and shabby. The staff were efficient and friendly in the restaurant. The food was good but lacked variety over the four nights we stayed there.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely weekend here for our wedding anniversary . The food was excellent and the staff very welcoming and helpful. Bowness is a short distance away and the boat trip on Windermere was enjoyable.

Loved the two night stay

Elizabeth & Darren Royton, stayed: June 2015

The food was fabulous, our room was extremely spacious with stunning views, we sat drinking wine on the veranda in the sunshine, absolutely fabulous. The staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming, if I would have read the reviews I probably wouldn't have booked it, all I can say is our room was lovely the dining room staff and food was excellent, highly recommend
