Special 2 days at The Eastbury Hotel
Nobody goes on holiday in November .we did and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Eastbury Hotel in beautiful Sherbourne. Fallen in love with Dorset, and will be back. Highly recommended and the garden rooms are simply perfect with lots of special touches.
run by accountants
very cold overall. when we came back from dinner the room heatig was off. my wife wore her annorack to brush her teeth. food very poor, atmosphere good.breakfast poor
Disappointed
The rooms and staff are lovely, but the restaurant lets this hotel down badly and as our first meal was part of the package it was very disappointing. The food was cold when served and for lamb to be raw is not a meal I would expect from a top chef, that is claimed to be in the kitchen.
We were told this would be taken off but then tried to charge on checkout. I wouldn t be in a rush to return albeit a beautiful hotel.
Like a miniature stately home
We recently stayed for one night at the Eastbury in Sherbourne. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Each and every one of them made us feel very welcome and special. Very well trained and a credit to the hotel. Our room was very spacious with a lovely roll top bath in the room and a further spacious bathroom with shower. The 6ft bed was super comfy and we both slept vey well. The gardens at the rear leading to the hotel's own car park were beautifully kept and the planting scheme, mainly green and white, looked amazing. I am a keen gardener and it made me want to go home and redo my own garden! The staff in the bar and restaurant were wonderful and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely. We were both really looking forward to our dinner as the gourmet restaurant is very highly rated. I found my meal a little disappointing but my husband enjoyed his. Perhaps I chose wrongly.
The next day both of our full english breakfasts were barely warm and my poached egg was hard. They did offer to replace the breakfasts but we were so hungry we chose to eat them. They did bring me another poached egg which was just right! I would stay at the Eastbury again as overall we really did have a lovely time.
An excellent comfortable hotel let down by a disappointing restaurant experience, dinner & breakfast
Two AA Rosettes led us to expect a high standard of cuisine with matching service. Previous experience of the hotel had given us just that. However on this occasion we were most disappointed. The hotel conceded they were experiencing staffing difficulties in common with much of the current hospitality industry.
The bedrooms we were given were of excellent quality. The comfort and luxury of the hotel facilities were as anticipated, and indeed in line with our past experience.
The restaurant offering and to some extent the service left a lot to be desired.
Disappointed, expected a better experience
First impressions were excellent. We were upgraded to a beautiful four poster room. At the time we didn t realise that we didn t have a shower, just a bath so it was a bit of a surprise when we realised.
We had to ask for our bottle of wine which should have been in the room on arrival, which was a bit awkward and shouldn t have been necessary. Staff were all very helpful, especially reception staff.
Excellent breakfast, but dinner on second evening was appalling. We had fish and chips which would have been a suitable size for a child. One tiny piece was fish was apparently portion controlled and was 30% batter! We complained and were not charged for it but the hotel need to up their standards.
The Eastbury Hotel
Good facilities, but in it's service and food somewhat lacking.
