Facilities at The Roseate Reading

The 23 rooms and suites arranged over four floors, blend design, art, lighting and sound to create a space that doesn't just look right, it feels right - this atmosphere permeates throughout the hotel...but it's about much more than the exquisite décor.
From the 86,000 Italian glass beads in the chandelier running the height of the building in the old lift shaft, to the opulent fabrics and wallpapers and attention to every single detail - there is simply no place in the UK as extraordinarily opulent and stunning. A bold statement, but true.Step into the UK's leading townhouse hotel.

Enjoy the Secret Garden, one of Reading's most relaxed outside spaces. Located underneath the Forbury Hotel in the centre of Reading, but this is by no means an ‘underground' Garden. This is the place to unwind by the waterfall feature and be looked after under the shade of a pomegranate tree

History of the hotel

History: Built in 1911 as the Shire Hall for Berkshire County Council, this listed building is most impressive and one that lends itself effortlessly to become a luxury hotel.

The wide hallways, vaulted ceilings, cornice mouldings and even the original lift shaft have been lovingly restored; in fact the central lift shaft that runs the full height of the building is the setting for the stunning Italian chandelier, with 86,000 individual glass beads from top to bottom.

Child Policy

Children welcome, rooms accommodate up to one extra child, family rooms up to 2 children. Baby cots are provided.

The Bar & Terrace

The Cerise Cocktail Bar is rapidly building a reputation for the place to be seen outside London, located underneath the Forbury Hotel in the centre of Reading, Forbury Square, but this is by no means an ‘underground' bar. This is the place to unwind and be looked after, be it in one of our private alcoves or outside in the secret garden.

The extensive menu is a great read and has many of our own creations and contemporary classics, always gives our patrons something new to try on regular basis. Our drinks menu also features "Speciality G&T" page, which has been created by our gin loving staff to pair each gin with an appropriate tonic water and garnish.
