Restaurant food excellent and we'll presented. Hotel was a little shabby in its public areas particularly at the rear of the premises ( the view from our room). Car parking was fairly tight. However overall we felt that the restaurant was the best asset of the hotel with its good food and pleasant staff.

GP, Essex, stayed: December 2017

A dog friendly pub with accomodation.  Despite newly refurbished room, some of the communal areas are a bit scruffy and would not describe this as a luxury boutique hotel.  No hot water in room in morning and no compensation offered. Food was very good.  Compared to other hotels offered on Off Peak Luxury site this would not be a first choice in the future.

A little disappointing

AG, Hants, stayed: August 2015

Whilst the room was clean and fairly tidy the public areas were rather shabby. The breakfast was served in a room with the previous evenings detritus still on the floor which was rather unappealing. We were unaware from the information on the website when we booked that no staff were present in the building overnight after the bar was closed. Telephone numbers were available but in an emergency it would have been preferable to have an actual person in the building. Parking was a problem. We had to use the village community centre car park ten minutes away on foot. This was really a pub with rooms and not what we have come to expect from OPL recommended hotels.
