Parking Facilities

There is a car park at the front of the hotel. Parking is free of charge but you will need to collect a permit from reception on arrival.

Disabled Access

There is a lift available to all floors including the swimming pool on the lower ground level, within the hotel and some bedrooms are suitable for wheelchair access - our Reservations staff are able to advise on this.

The front entrance of the Hotel is accessible via the ramp to the right of the steps. Once inside the building the Restaurant and the Terrace Restaurant are all on one level. Both rooms and The Spa can be accessed via a lift.

As you come into the entrance there are double doors to the right 1260 mm wide, either a Bellman, Day or Night Porter will be on hand to assist if needed.

History of the hotel

Steeped in history, The Headland has become one of Cornwall's most-loved hotels. A longstanding favourite with royal visitors including King George VI, we also found fame on the big screen. The most well known film made here on location is Roald Dahl's 'The Witches', during which Rowan Atkinson caused an epic flood!

Child Policy

Extra beds and cots can be added to most hotel rooms and suites. Furthermore, many Ocean and Coastal View bedrooms feature pull-down bunk beds for under 10s.

Children aged 3-14 years, sharing their parents' room on a bed and breakfast basis will be charged at £40 each per night; child-friendly menus are available. Babies and toddlers under 3 stay for free.

If you are travelling with children over 14, please contact our team before booking.

Upgrade fees may apply.

Dogs Policy

Wet, sandy pooches are very welcome, as long as they're well behaved! In return for their best behaviour, we'll spoil them with a lovely welcome pack complete with a bowl, blanket, food, and yummy treats. There's also plenty of water bowls dotted around the hotel so they'll feel perfectly at home.

There's a small charge of £24 per dog, per night, (maximum 2 dogs per room), but it's worth it when you consider the fun you'll have together on the miles of sandy beaches! All rooms at the hotel are dog friendly.  Dog-friendly all year round, Fistral Beach is right on our doorstep.

Other Information

We're committed to preserving the raw beauty of Cornwall's coastline. We've recently gone plastic straw free, and using a cardboard compactor saves an estimated 6-8 tonnes of landfill space every year.

RM, Essex, stayed: September 2019

The room was said to be a coastal room. Though I was disappointed when I saw it. Yes you could see a bit of the coast but you could also see huge metal containers and workman where they are having work done on the site. A cement mixer going round and there was no bottle of fizz in our room. I went to reception and said about the package I had bought from you and that I needed the drink to be delivered to my room. They apologized. I said the room was not the view I was expecting . Hey sai it was a coastal room technically because you can see a bit of the coast. They said the cement mixer would go off at 5 pm and start the next day. We were only there 1 night. In the end they did change me to a better room which was lovley but we had to sit around for 2 hours in a room we couldn't relax in because we didn't want to spoil it for the next person. It kind off spoilt the first couple of hours as I had to change my spa appointment and dinner booking because we couldn't be sure if we needed to change rooms when the new room was ready. It was resolved to my satisfaction. They did charge me for my evening meals which I noticed and got them to remove as I had already paid you!!

Ordinary hotel in good location

Anon, stayed: September 2019

Hotel is very clean and front staff are charming. We were disappointed in the standard of the room and particularly the bathroom which were far from luxurious and in need of refurbishment. Requests to repair bedside light was acknowledged on two separate occasions but no repair or replacement or apology was forthcoming. The impression is that the charm apparent front of house is not supported by guest oriented service by management.

A short break in Newquay

Anne G, Dyfed, stayed: August 2019

Had a wonderful two night stay at the Headland. We were met at reception and given a tour of the hotel.
It was our first stay and we will be returning for a longer visit.
The ocean view room was very comfortable and had the best of views. It was a quiet and relaxing room with a good selection of teas and coffee, water in the fridge.
The bathroom had very nice toiletries and fluffy dressing gown and slippers.
Had a fine meal in the dining room and a fantastic breakfast with a great selection of fresh fruits and luxurious yogurts and a wide selection of cooked breakfasts.
Enjoyed the spa and the outside swimming pool and the proximity to the beach gave us all we needed for a very relaxing short break. Thank you very much

Disappointing

Anon, stayed: June 2019

Does not give value for money. Beautiful location but overpriced. Very welcoming service on arrival but let down by restaurant service. Rooms claustraphobic and cluttered. If 'sir and/or madam' are no longer forms of address, 'guys and sweetheart' are unacceptable and insulting. Continueous piped pop and jazz music throughtout the day in the restaurant and adjacent areas is unnecessary and disturbing and to be told that '....well the other 197 guests would object...' (when there were only 17 other guests in the vicinity) downgrades customer service.

A lovely stay in a luxurious but friendly hotel. The booking process was very efficient. Our spacious room had everything we could need including a comfy seating area, fresh milk in the fridge, a coffee machine and an amazing view of Fistral Beach and the headland. Staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.
