Parking Facilities

There is a car park at the front of the hotel. Parking is free of charge but you will need to collect a permit from reception on arrival.

Disabled Access

There is a lift available to all floors including the swimming pool on the lower ground level, within the hotel and some bedrooms are suitable for wheelchair access - our Reservations staff are able to advise on this.

The front entrance of the Hotel is accessible via the ramp to the right of the steps. Once inside the building the Restaurant and the Terrace Restaurant are all on one level. Both rooms and The Spa can be accessed via a lift.

As you come into the entrance there are double doors to the right 1260 mm wide, either a Bellman, Day or Night Porter will be on hand to assist if needed.

History of the hotel

Steeped in history, The Headland has become one of Cornwall's most-loved hotels. A longstanding favourite with royal visitors including King George VI, we also found fame on the big screen. The most well known film made here on location is Roald Dahl's 'The Witches', during which Rowan Atkinson caused an epic flood!

Child Policy

Extra beds and cots can be added to most hotel rooms and suites. Furthermore, many Ocean and Coastal View bedrooms feature pull-down bunk beds for under 10s.

Children aged 3-14 years, sharing their parents' room on a bed and breakfast basis will be charged at £40 each per night; child-friendly menus are available. Babies and toddlers under 3 stay for free.

If you are travelling with children over 14, please contact our team before booking.

Upgrade fees may apply.

Dogs Policy

Wet, sandy pooches are very welcome, as long as they're well behaved! In return for their best behaviour, we'll spoil them with a lovely welcome pack complete with a bowl, blanket, food, and yummy treats. There's also plenty of water bowls dotted around the hotel so they'll feel perfectly at home.

There's a small charge of £24 per dog, per night, but it's worth it when you consider the fun you'll have together on the miles of sandy beaches! Dog-friendly all year round, Fistral Beach is right on our doorstep.

Other Information

We're committed to preserving the raw beauty of Cornwall's coastline. We've recently gone plastic straw free, and using a cardboard compactor saves an estimated 6-8 tonnes of landfill space every year.

The hotel is beautifully situated, and the deal was worthwhile if you were planning to eat at the hotel as the food is quite expensive. If that wasn't the case then it would be better value to just pay for the room up front and eaten out. My main gripe is that an upgrade to a better room wasn't offered, and that the room we were given was on the first floor, overlooking a building site. Not the coastal view I was hoping for. It also to appeared to be the smallest room on the floor plan, although it was comfortable and not tiny, it felt like a budget experience. The Headland is a very interesting place to stay, it had a good atmosphere and the spa was very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful, although, despite asking about the meals included in our deal, the restaurant still gave us a bill for the full amount. This was taken off, but at checkout there was another mystery charge, which I also had to ask to be removed. Reception and the restaurant were both fine about this and reissued the receipt.

Watch Out For The Extra Loan!!!

Anon, stayed: September 2018

Hotel was very welcoming but huge divide on rooms as they range from 200 to 500 night. Our room through off peak did not get a free upgrade as mentioned although I am yet to get an upgrade on any of the hotels which so called may offer it!!! View was spectacular but room was far from 4 star luxury. Carpet worn and faded bed bumpy and a minute television which we had to call maintenance for, who were really prompt and efficient. Bathroom was dated, cracked bath, pitiful shower, smallest I have ever seen, makes the premier inn bathrooms feel glamourous!! Spa was fab as was the indoor pool (although small). Outdoor pool was completely running itself down as a new complex is currently being built which will completely ruin the ambience of this Hotel and its setting.
Food as part of the off peak package in the Saphire Restaurant was amazing but mind the desert menu as 26 for 2 tiny portions is rather over the top however nice. Wine list and drinks are also very overpriced at 30 for a bottle of housewine or 11 for a large glass.
The thing that completely ruined it for us was that the Hotel insisted we place 100 on our credit card although we were not happy as we like to pay as we go . They said this would not be taken only pending until we checked out and made sure we had not put any items on our room.
SEVEN DAYS after check out and this 100 is still pending and our bank has said the Hotel have put a date on it 8 days after our checkout after which time it will be cancelled!!! The Hotel said it would be instant on check out. Completely unprofessional no manager bothered to return our calls so WE SHALL NEVER RETURN HERE. What kind of guests do they have at this Hotel if they have to steal 100 from everyone for over a week after they have returned home. Sorry Off Peak the deal was fab but the Hotel and its policy is sooooo wrong.

Wonderful anniversary in romantic setting. Magic.

Pamela, Devon, stayed: May 2018

We arrived about an hour early planning to have lunch. The weather was lovely. Just right for a special celebration.
After lunch and a glass of Prosecco Paul showed us to our room and explained how everything worked. He was absolutely charming.
The room was very pretty with a four-poster bed with swans, rose petals and a card from the Headland. A bottle of bubbles was chilling with two glasses. It tasted wonderful.
Now I'm going to be a little negative and not entirely happy about it. It's all about size. We travel a lot and like to have at least what we have at home, or more. Usually I book directly with hotels and choose exactly what we want. Looking on The Headland website I imagined Splendid Rooms to be much bigger than they are. So I guess I must accept some responsibility.
Our booking information mentioned a room upgrade subject to availability. I mentioned this on check in but nothing was said. We would have paid for an upgrade if offered.
Negativity over. The Headland is a wonderful place in a magical setting. The staff make guests feel very special. It's a place where you come as a guest and leave as a friend. Already planning the next visit.
Our experience of booking with Off Peak Luxury was professional and very helpful. More room info and upgrades if possible.
So in summary, The Headland is great and it's in our diary for next year's anniversary, if not before.
