Great stay

We enjoyed our trip down memory lane. We had stayed previously at the Lygon Arms some years ago and loved Broadway and the surrounding area.

Poor selection of Hotel.

Arthur B, Lancashire, stayed: September 2019

Arrived and was surprised how dark and unwelcoming reception was. The receptionist who booked us in was totally uninformative and seemed to not like her job. The room was a fair distance away from the Hotel ,up stairs and had not been cleaned properly. We did tell Management but nothing happened.
We ate our first evening meal in the Terrace Lounge so we could be with our dog. The service was very slow and the food nothing to write home about and this was the Restaurant Menu. We ate in the Italian attached to the Hotel on the second night and that was dark, not well populated and again the food was nothing special.
We heard a number of other guests complaining about their stay and we also felt the Hotel did not warrant another visit and was overpriced for what it offered.
The car parks were dreadful with large puddles all over the place. If these were resurfaced it would be far better. One car park ,and the Terrace Lounge was taken over for some charitable event but there was was no mention of this before or when we booked in. It seems guests come second and that will not happen to us again.
On booking out reception were told how poor we thought the Hotel was and they really needed to up their game as we have a favourite hotel in Yorkshire which makes this lot look like amateurs.
There was no apology as such only a comment that the Hotel had recently been taken over and they were feeling their way. I think they have lost their way.
I think they are also catering for the American visitor as there were a lot of them doing Oxford etc and Speaking to some of them them they were not impressed with the way standards had fallen since their last visit to the UK. The staff uniform seemed to be blue Oxford shirts and blue jeans. Not impressive for an Hotel charging these prices.
We have been around the Cotswolds and have not been impressed with the Hotels/Pubs and feel the costs they charge do not warrant another visit. Many of the towns are dying and have nothing of interest and whilst Broadway was a picture post card of a village that's all there is going for it.
This offer was booked through the Telegraph Newspaper and I doubt we will be using their services again either.
