Facilities at The Lygon Arms

Visit a hotel that has been coloured by the characters of history. At The Lygon Arms, with its 82 rooms, you can stay in the suite that King Charles I once stayed in the night before the Battle of Worcester in 1651. Hotel OK but not as good as reputation.

LP, Monmouth, stayed: September 2018

Hotel OK - would not stay there again. Ground floor bedrooms too visible - bot able therefore to open windows - room very dark and not at all relaxing. Bathroom was dangerous - very poor and varied headroom over shower / bath; shower pane opened into bathroom; bathroom door opened itself into bathroom over toes and was generally dangerous. Wardrobe doors, likewise, had not plinth and therefore opened onto toes - painful.
Dining room - impressive room but not much privacy therein as tables too close together and too much like school dining room. Not at all intimate.

Pretty good - a friend recommended it 40 years ago, & I guess the standards are equally high today
The breakfast was one of the best ever, having an Arnold Bennett omelette served in the pan.
The Italian restaurant was fine. It was a little cold, and the 'muzak' wasn't particularly Italian romantica.
We enjoyed strolling the Broadway street in the early evening looking into the shops. this is why I've upped the location to excellent. We did spend some money there before we left in the morning.

first room was a disappointment .It was accessed by two outside doors, one into the main Broadway street, and it was raining. we did not feel IN the hotel. However after one night the manager acted swiftly to put us into another room, actually inside the hotel confounds.

Our stay at Lygon

Nigel Barfoot, Hampshire, stayed: August 2018

Our occasion was a birthday with a couple of nights away. Clare, my wife booked on line a while back.
Arrival by car at the front was chaotic. I chose to park our car myself, having negotiated the severe unclearly marked speed bumps without losing the sump and exhaust! Suggest a need to be much more clearly marked. Issues with the safe were quickly dealt with and additional T bags delivered fast as well. Dinner was a real disappointment. The rump steak was a let down, expensive and lacking in vegetables.Did not appreciate the addition of 12 1/2% to the dining bill. Breakfasts were stunning, well proportioned with great service. Suggest review the price of the dinner options and have a section "Pub grub" and chips and "Fine dining" with the more expensive options. Further suggest a "secret diner" to carry out a review and further feedback. Overall our experience was good, not stunning as we were expecting. Would appreciate a comment to our comments too.

Relaxing break

Dee, Oxfordshire, stayed: August 2018

My daughter and I had a lovely stay at the Lygon Arms. The spa and pool were great; the food was excellent and the service was friendly and relaxed.
The hotel is a lovely venue and I would very much to visit again in the future.
