Location & Local Attractions

The Rosevine is a wonderfully convenient base for family holidays and short breaks in Cornwall, within easy distance of Portscatho, St Mawes and Truro.

For holiday activities, walks and beaches, head to the Roseland Peninsula, one of the prettiest and most exclusive parts of Cornwall. They are in the very heart of it, and the house has a fabulous sea view, looking directly over Gerrans Bay towards Portscatho. The safe sandy beach is just a two-minute stroll down the lane. The National Trust owns Porthcurnick beach, and its calm waters are perfect for water sports, swimming and rock pooling.

There's a lot for families and couples alike to explore, from beautiful beaches and hidden coves to riverside creeks. The best way to travel is by boat, so take a ferry tour down the beautiful Fal River, or hop on the passenger ferry for a short boat ride from the Roseland Peninsula over to Falmouth, to visit the National Maritime Museum Cornwall or Pendennis Castle. Wander around the boutiques in St Mawes, visit St Mawes Castle, and The King Harry Ferry is a picturesque way to cross the river over to the National Trust's Trelissick Gardens, and on to Truro with its stunning cathedral, and family-friendly Royal Cornwall Museum.

The sheltered coastal village of Portscatho is an easy walk along the coastal footpath and we are a stone's throw from some of the best sailing waters in the UK. If you'd like to go slightly further afield, the iconic Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are around 45 minutes away by car, whilst the North Coast surf beaches are under an hour away.

Some of the best foodie destinations are located in Cornwall, some just on the doorstep of The Rosevine. As well as our own restaurant, there's the Hidden Hut located just above Porthcurnick Beach, accessed by the footpath, for soups and sandwiches as well as their acclaimed feast nights, and the Michelin starred Driftwood restaurant is just up the road.
