Very disappointing stay

Anon, stayed: April 2025

Our fault but we booked for Good Friday which was a huge mistake! The noise in the restaurant was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves talk so had to sit outside which wasn't much better because there was also an engagement party going on with loud music, people talking at the tops of their voices etc.
Basically this is a huge restaurant with a few rooms, rather than a 4-star hotel which is what we thought we were booking.

Very good stay

I loved the hotel, the staff were amazing but my personal preference is to stay at hotel with acres of land where I can go for walks after breakfast.

Lovely stay.

Mary, Berkshire, stayed: October 2024

My son had bought us a voucher for a hotel break and we chose the Royal Foresters as it was fairly local and were doing a overnight break with evening meal and breakfast on a friday. We were welcomed by Aiden who was very friendly and helpful, after booking us in he took us up to our room and explained breakfast times etc. We went down for dinner at 7pm and a very nice young lady (sorry I forgot her name) served us efficiently and was helpful when we asked her anything. The meal was excellent, well prepared and beautifully presented. As it was an extremely busy evening for the staff I was expecting some delays but all the staff were friendly, happy and very efficient with no delays. In the morning we were served by Ellie who was lovely, very cheerful and again we were served quickly with an excellent breakfast, my husband even went over to thank the chefs. Overall a very pleasant stay. Thank you

More of a restaurant than a hotel

Anon, stayed: September 2024

Some photos of "hotel" very old. Staff all very pleasant and helpful but more focus on the very large restaurant area. Car park big and virtually full in the evening with restaurant busy and noisy. Twenty odd rooms located towards rear and whole site on the corner of a busy crossroads with the main road leading to Ascot. Our room was on the ground floor well equipped, with large (double glazed) windows within about 2m from the pavement and a side road which was very busy at times. No instructions for example on use of heating or normal hotel features like menus, things to do etc.. Certainly an excellent area with lots of places to visit but not the relaxing hotel we were expecting.

We stayed for 3days our room had 2 tea bags4tubes of coffee and just a few straws of sugar one small shower gel , one small shampoo no soap !! Not nearly enough for two people on a three day stay !!as for the size and quality of the toilet roll , it had to be seen to be believed. In fact we brought a sheet home as a souvenir, just to show our friends !!!
Staff were excellent, that was the only good thing
Our stay was A Disaster!!
And our wedding anniversary.

Lovely hotel, rooms were very clean and modern. Was easy check in/out all online, staff very friendly, food was really good. We had dinner which was lovely and breakfast was so nice had a large menu with lots of choice. Great location close to ascot racecourse and only 15 to windsor

A great find!

Alan D, Kent, stayed: March 2023

We stayed at Royal Forester overnight having received a voucher from family, and wishing to visit Windsor, which is only 6 miles away. The pub hotel is in a great location for Ascot race course, and for visiting Windsor and Runnymede. The staff are extremely helpful, and the food is very good. We enjoyed an excellent dinner, and the A la Carte breakfast was pretty good too. The only small let down was our room. It was overlooking a busy main road, and was in need of refurbishing (in our opinion), apart from the bathroom, which appeared newly appointed. We d recommend, and hope to return one day.
