Amazing stay from start to finish. Very beautiful surroundings and romantic restaurant. Staff are very professional from receptionists to restaurant staff
Thornton Hall review KW
Purchased deal at Thornton Hall as a Christmas treat for me & husband. Room was nice, main building nice, spa was too busy and not as relaxing as we hoped.
Food was lovely. The evening meal deal was 49 pp, please be aware this does NOT include drinks with your meal.
Overall a nice stay
Disappointed
We had this trip booked since August for our wedding anniversary and we re very much looking forward to revisiting Thornton Hall. The day of our stay my husband was really ill and I rang first thing to see if we could change the date for anytime in the next few months but were told that it wasn t possible and we would lose our money so I rather than lose it I took my daughter with me.
Our room wasn t great but we had a swim (it was a spa break anns robes were not included!?) and got ready to have a meal in the bar area. We were sat down; after 10 minutes no one has come to take a drinks order so I had to go to the bar. The starters arrived and they were not great, my main came and I had finished it by the time my daughters arrived after I d had to chase it!! Just not good customer service all round; needless to say we won t return which is such a shame as we ve been twice before and had amazing stays - such a shame!
Amazing Spa. High quality hotel.
The spa was excellent. Generally in excellent condition. 3 hot tubs. 2 saunas and never seen before a snow room !.One or two machines in the gym were heavily worn but wide range to use and free weights.
Confusing restaurant offering. Not sure how to book what and they offer different menus. Main restaurant food limited kchoice and excellently cooked. Good sized portions. However bring a dictionary so you can translate the menu into layman's terms. Very pricy but ok if you have a discount deal .
Fantastic stay
We loved everything about this hotel and spa, so much so that I don't know where to begin! The location was perfect, the staff delightful, food delicious and honestly the best spa I've ever been to. The hotel was clean and quiet and we had a warm, comfortable room with lovely facilities where everything had been thought of. I would go back again tomorrow!
Disappointing
Thornton Hall has much to recommend it. The staff are professional and helpful. The hotel is well presented, clean and welcoming. The gardens are pleasant.
Being open to non residents, the spa is busy at all times. There is a lot of traffic coming and going from early morning. The facilities are good.
The food served in the restaurant was disappointing. The menu was restrictive, portions were meagre, the food was not hot and the p te was inedible. Emphasis is definitely on presentation rather than substance. We did not eat there on our third night as there were no further dishes we were willing to risk at the very high price being charged.
Be prepared to carry your bags up steep stairs and along winding corridors.
Not the best experience for us.
Beautiful Hotel
We were bought a stay at Thornton Hall for a wedding gift. As we pulled up I was impressed, but when we went inside the decor was breathtaking. Check in was easy and a very helpful gentleman offered to show us to our room. The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. The Spa was wonderful and sitting outside in a hot tub surrounded by beautiful lighting was a highlight for me. Dinner was fine dining at it's best and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. Staff were so helpful without being intrusive and the cocktails were amazing. I couldn't find fault with anything.
