Not the luxury you would expect for the price

CS, Norfolk, stayed: February 2025

Was looking forward to a couple of days off in a nice hotel. Arrived less than an hour before check in and went to see if the room was read. No politeness just told no rooms are not ready till 3pm. But you can use the facilities. No offer to book me in so we could open the room to book drinks to it or anything. And didn t even direct to where facilities were. Finally checked in and got to our room which was sort of clean and spacious with a nice sized bed. But no finishing touches. Carpet was warm under the fridge. Fridge needed a clean and stains on the chairs. Table for dinner was booked and food was nothing extravagant but was nice staff were pleasant. Booked the bill to the room as had opened it on check in. As we were leaving we were stopped by the waitress to say we needed to pay as our room was not open. Very embarrassing as it looked like we were doing a runner. She then had to escort us to reception to sort it out. Where we weee just told sometimes it just happens. And offered a free bottle of wine. But it had already ruined a nice evening. Breakfast was buffet which I have no problem with but there was 1 coffee machine for more than 20 tables and the queue was 10 deep at one point hot water urn was on top of a high bar table where the coffee as also so was an accident waiting to happen. On check out other people were complaining that the spa weekend they had booked was not as expected as some things including the hot tubs were out of order. And was promptly told it was due to admin taking time to raise po s to get it fixed. They had also been charged for their free treatments which then had to be refunded. The overall courtesy of the recipient staff was not very welcoming. Having to walk past all the ground floor rooms to get to the restaurant and bar was also a bit odd. Not worth the money they charge for the stay.

Great place to relax, lovely staff but communications could be better

JD, Kent, stayed: January 2025

We booked 2 rooms for a one night package as a January get away as 2 couples, and in general we had a lovely relaxing break. The spa facilities are great, as a newer addition to the rest of the hotel, which is a little dated but still very comfortable. I tried to book spa treatments a few weeks before our stay, as I knew they would probably be fully booked by the time we arrived. After 3 failed attempts (2 non-returned phone calls and 1 unanswered email), I finally managed to book and pay for 2 treatments with the central booking team on the 4th contact. On our arrival, only one of the treatments was in the booking system, but the lovely spa manager resolved the issue by offering to do the 2nd treatment herself. Our package also included a bottle of prosecco on arrival, and robes in the rooms, neither of which were there when we checked in. After speaking to the helpful reception staff, one prosecco arrived at 6pm, the other we found in our room at 10pm after dinner, which was a little late for us. The bar and restaurant staff were a bit stretched, and we waited a while for drinks to arrive at the table, but all of the staff were friendly, helpful and kind. So in summary I would say that the booking and communications systems could do with some improvement, but the staff make a big effort to correct the errors and misses.

Weekend at Ufford Park Resort

Anon, stayed: January 2025

We enjoyed our weekend at Ufford Park, mainly because it is close to the unspoiled Suffolk coastal attractions. There was nothing particularly wrong about the hotel, but you wouldn't describe it as luxurious. The restaurant is ordinary with a limited menu and the food was ok but definitely not fine dining.

The 'resort' is focused on its golf course; it is more golf club than anything else.

Hotel was very clean.

Jo, Kent, stayed: November 2024

Big queues for breakfast even for your tea and coffee. Food was ok.
Dinner was nice but had to send my steak back as it was cold, our friends had finished eating by the time it came back. The staff were lovely though. Meal was expensive compared to meals we had in the local area. No ambience as dining was in the bright breakfast area.
Only a few sofas in the bar area, which were all taken, so we went out instead.
We had a free thermal spa ( usually 25). Sauna was luke warm as was the large hot tub, bubbles only lasted a few minutes and hard to get back on. Needs a bit of tlc. We couldn t fit into the relaxing area as it was full.
This hotel would be fine for large groups just wanting to play golf- not the country hotel vibe I ve had in other places.

Our very short stay at the hotel.

Buffy, Surrey, stayed: November 2024

We came to the hotel on the 24th November hoping to stay for three nights. Sadly we had to cut our holiday short due to an unforeseen complication with my knee replacement which had happened over night before we were due to arrive. As I was in a great deal of pain and and could not walk we decided to leave the following morning. I never managed to see the pool which was the main reason for coming to your hotel. The food in the restaurant was great, but as I couldn't walk, the restaurant was too far for me to get to. In the morning my husband had to drive me to it .
We asked if there was any way that we might have a refund or a voucher, and the receptionist said that she would look into it. As yet we have heard nothing from you. I would be grateful if you would get in touch to let me know either way. Thank you. We would both love to come back and enjoy what looks like a lovely relaxing place.

Feeling let down by 'welcoming' staff, but lovely restaurant.

Elaine, Suffolk, stayed: November 2024

I booked this 'romantic break' for my partner's birthday. When we arrived the reception was a little busy. The two girls at the desk didn't feel particularly welcoming to any guests checking in. It would have been nice to be told where things were, we had to ask where the restaurant was from our room. Included in the package was a bottle of chilled Prosecco in our room on arrival, which unfortunately it wasn't. I went and spoke to the receptionist who was not apologetic at all, just mumbled oh ok. We went for a drink in the bar and was behind the receptionist who was collecting our Prosecco and having a bit of a moan to the bar staff about it. When we returned to our room the Prosecco was there, but she hadn't bothered to leave any glasses. It's not quite the same from a glass tumbler so we ended up taking the bottle home with us the next day. The restaurant was lovely and the food extremely good. It was an average stay and for the money I did expect a little more customer service and to be a more attentive, which they were not.

Would have liked to see what this place was like in the summer, as in November it was pretty cold. And I mean inside the hotel. The bar lacked a cosy feel, the restaurant was very 'open plan' and again lacked a cosy feel. Whilst the food was not poor, it certainly wasnt worth the money. A Ragu made out of what tasted and looked like like Heinz tomato soup? Spirit list was excellent, wine list good too. The hotel spa was really good, you can see there has been investment here, it feels cosy and warm - totally unlike the rest of the hotel. There were a pair of what people call 'influencers' staying when we were there, this meant all the spa treatments were knocked out of times and people were offered free treatments to compromise. Which was nice but really? Was embarrassing to watch the staff falling over each other to please these two 'd listers'
Breakfast was average unless you liked sausages and bacon which were, I have to say really lovely.
Staff were really nice.
We left a day early, favouring a warm cosy pub near where we live over another night at the hotel. Shame.
