Facilities at Eshott Hall

Eshott Hall is entirely unique; an elegant property offering accommodation to the discerning guest and a perfect setting for private house parties, weddings and executive conferences.

The Hall is one of Northumberland's most beautiful 17th century country houses and enjoys an idyllic setting on a 500 acre family owned estate; surrounded by tranquil rolling lawns and ancient woodland. Eshott Hall has natural grace, with discreet and understated charm; a chic blend of stylish contemporary décor with an historic ambiance.

Robert and Gina Parker bought Eshott Hall in January 2010 and immediately set about refurbishing the rooms, creating new bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, as well as designing the interiors to reflect a mixture of antique and contemporary style. All 11 bedrooms are now available to guests as well as the three self catering holiday properties within the grounds. Eshott Hall is also developing a name for its fine dining and many non-residents are already regular dinner guests. The Hall is proving a very popular venue for weddings and events.

History of the hotel

There is mention of a Hall at the Northumberland village of Eshott as far back as 1310, when Roger Mauduit was given a Royal License to fortify his home, which grew to an estate by 1328. The Crown confiscated the estate after a rebellion but restored it to the Mauduit family in 1359.

In 1415, there is reference to the 'Castle of Esshete' owned by a knight, Sir John Heron, but it is not until the turn of the 16th century that Eshott Hall as we recognise it now came into existence.

In the late 1960's the older central block of the Hall was demolished, leaving the north wing built in 1881 as well as the south wing. Eshott Hall fell into disuse but was revived in 1997 by Ho Sanderson, great grandson of Emerson Bainbridge, who developed the Hall into a venue for weddings, functions with some guest accommodation.

Child Policy

Eshott Hall is a family friendly hotel. Cots are charged at £15 per night.  Extra beds are charged at £28 per night and child's breakfast is £6.  Additional meals are charged as taken.  Room upgrades may be required to accommodate extra beds.

Enjoyable stopover

AB, Bedfordshire, stayed: October 2019

Stayed 1 night as stopover on way to Scotland.
Very friendly efficient staff. Good food and very comfortable room.
Only downside, about 200 metre walk to room, which could have been a problem had it been really wet.

Lovely few days. Minor point , our bedroom was not in the hall so there was a chance of getting wet when coming to meals, especially for dinner. That said we had a great time

A very nice place to stay with an excellent level of customer service by all.

Hamish C, Norfolk, stayed: September 2019

Eshott Hall is situated in beautiful grounds with lots of small wildlife. We stayed in the stable block and the rooms were large, well furnished with a huge, bright, sparkling bathroom. We had coffee tea making facilities and biscuits.
The bar and lounge was very comfortable. The barman was fairly knowledgeable about the drinks on offer and we were served promptly.
The breakfast was tasty and adequate. The evening meals were excellent with a good range of starters, mains and desserts, all served by friendly efficient staff.
All in all a very pleasant 3 night stay. We would recommend a visit. Shame about the weather.

Neil S, Derbyshire, stayed: September 2019

We stayed at Eshott Hall previously, in 2012, so knew what to expect.

The food wasn't as good as when we stayed previously. Although the dinner menu was quite ambitious, the actual cooking wasn't great. The breakfasts on our previous visit were only average, in terms of what was on offer, and the quality of the cooking. This was also the case this time.

The staff were great.

The Eshott Hall experience

CC, Kent, stayed: September 2019

I liked the location in the Northumberland countryside though I wished that the access road was a little wider but that didn't cause any problems. The deal I booked represented very good value for money, the food and room were fine and I would certainly stay at Eshott Hall again.
