Lovely overnight stay

Anon, stayed: September 2018

The room was really nice, the staff were brilliant and very welcoming. The afternoon tea was good and the meal in the evening was value for money.

The only thing I would change was the breakfast, all self service including the drinks which I think let the hotel down a little.

Worth a stay

Anon, stayed: August 2017

We had a one night stay, had the afternoon which was fab. Evening dinner was really nice and very filling. Room was very spacious with steps up to the bed, only downside was we had no windows to look out of as had sky lights that were frosted. Would definitely go back there.

CA, Wiltshire, stayed: July 2017

The location was stunning, and the entrance hall impressive. Sadly our room did not live up to our first impression. The hotel is so vast that we were presented with a route guide to find our room. The dining arrangements were disappointing, we dined in what could only be described as a cafeteria, while other guests had comfortable chairs and table cloths! The food was reasonable and so was the service.

A little disappointing.

Alan R, Cheshire, stayed: November 2016

Nice touch in the room with fruit and chocolates but no bottled water. The restaurant menu was limited and the food was only okay. Staff very pleasant. Room was small with no view.

Shrigley Hall, March 2016

Anon, stayed: March 2016

All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful, reception, restaurant, at the pool, maintenance staff, even on the corridors. That is the hotel's greatest strength. The bed was comfortable but the lighting was so poor that it was very difficult to read in most parts of the room. The most unfortunate aspect was the room's location (room 149) where the clanking of the lift woke us up and the bedroom doors down the corridor bang loudly. I would recommend reviewing the design of the doors and their closure.  The towel rail did not work. A member of staff came and reset it on the first evening but it failed again on our second and third nights. The quality of the meals was variable and would hardly measure up to fine dining, no table cloth even!

Failed to meet expectations

BW, 2 Russel Place, stayed: February 2015

Booked through Offpeakluxury.com for 1 night on Valentines Night including DB&B and a free glass of Prosecco (still waiting for this!).  Hotel busy on arrival with wedding and other guests. Told that the earliest booking for dinner was 9.00pm. Advised we should have booked in advance. No indication of the need to do this from Offpeakluxury.com. Went down for dinner at 9.00. Restaurant very busy and table not ready. Once seated we waited for over 30 minutes for someone to attend to us. Had to waylay staff to get attention.
Food was ok but the service was not up to scratch and spoilt the experience. Staff were working hard but there simply was insufficient numbers to cope. It was suggested that since it was Valentine's night we should have booked a table in advance. Well perhaps since it was Valentine's Night the hotel should have booked more staff in advance. Disappointing!
