We enjoyed our stay. The Hotel set in lovely countryside is relaxing, clean and the staff welcoming and helpful The food was good, our only disappointment was the Dinner menu. We thought some 'specials' would have provided a little more variety especially if eating in the restaurant for several evenings.
A lovely break
Even though our break didn't start well, things got better and we thoroughly enjoyed Trigony Hotel, booked an extra night and would love to return. I had booked both a facial and the hot tub in the spa garden. Unfortunately, the booking for the spa garden hot tub got lost and we were unable to use it. So annoying when the weather was stunning.
The garden is lovely and definitely book the hot tub if you can. My facial did go ahead and the therapist was fabulous.
The ambience of the hotel is relaxed and friendly. We only had breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on evening meals, but they seemed very busy. The breakfasts were fantastic. High quality, lots to choose from and a few different things on the menu.
Our bedroom was at the side of the house, away from the main road, a bit snug given the size of the extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom was pleasantly decorated, if a little neutral, had a divine large bath which was a joy to soak in after a long hot walk. We had a lovely view of the garden.
It was so nice to hear the staff talking with each other and the owner, who was so supportive toward the staff. A positive work environment which is reflected in how the hotel feels. We enjoyed ourselves, there was lots to see and we did some wonderful walks. Great shops, tea room, and eating places in the village, we will come back again and book a room at the back of the hotel so we have two windows and more views of the garden and countryside, another treatment or two (!!) plus get that hot tub experience.
Thank you so much to the staff for all their hard work.

Nice to enter an olde world atmosphere with a very conciderent and helpful owner who is helpful and friendly. I don t think anything would have been a problem
Not long enough
We were given a night's stay as a gift. We sadly only stayed one night. Its a beautiful hotel. We were welcomed with a warm friendly atmosphere. The staff were attentive and respectful. The treat of a warm scone and pot of tea when we arrived were a absolute delight. What a way to be greated.!! Room was superior, clean , tasteful, incredibly comfortable. Its a dig friendly hotel, although We didn't have a dog, if you did the garden suit would have been ideal. The local area is beautiful and October seemed a perfect time to visit with the lovely autumnal colours. I will definitely be back ....can't wait!

Beautiful old hotel offering a relaxing, comfortable stay.
Outstanding food served at this very comfortable, old, characterful hotel which is let down by it's unenthusiastic staff. A warmer welcome and meal service would have made all the difference.
Very dog-friendly if you are taking a dog!
Wee night away
Stayed at this hotel (9 rooms) for a night. The staff were very nice, helpfull and professional. Lovely garden setting. This hotel is definately for walkers/ramblers and accommodates pets.
Breakfast was lovely. Decided not to eat dinner in the place as the menu was too fancy for my liking. I could not pick a meal from it. We ventured into Dumfries itself for food, which was a 20 minute drive to have dinner.
Room was spacious and cozy. NIce wee touch with the kettle, teas, coffees and shortbread. If you want somewhere quiet and out of the way this is the place
