Rebuilt in the mid 19th century using Cotswold stone, Dumbleton Hall became home to the Eyres family and in the 1930′s the Hall was well known for its popular house parties with regular guests including John Betjeman, later to become Poet Laureate, and the popular Mitford sisters.

During the Second World War the Hall was allegedly considered as a suitable alternative venue for the House of Lords.

The Hall became a hotel in 1959.

Quiet and relaxing retreat in the Cotswolds

Robin, West Midlands, stayed: November 2018

Very enjoyable. Three points:
1. The duvets in our room were not comfortable. They were very lumpy - as if someone had put them through a washing machine. House keeping were slow to replace with a blanket. The bedding needs to be comfortable!
2. Cutlery in the restaurant was very cheap quality. This may seem a trivial point but a high class restaurant would have better cutlery! For me this let down the dining experience
3. The reception staff could be less formal. This is a relaxed country hotel not a slick city centre.

But we enjoyed our stay and would come again

We would come again.

Karen, Derbyshire, stayed: October 2018

My husband was gifted an overnight stay at Dumbleton Hall for his 60th birthday and we managed to find a good deal and add an extra night to it. We had an excellent couple of days at this characterful hotel where we received excellent service both before our arrival and during our stay. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and were given a different menu each time (it is changed daily) which was great. The food was excellent and beautifully presented and the waiting on staff were the right level of attentive. We also ate breakfast in the restaurant which was the usual fayre also to a high standard. Our room was spacious and comfortable and overlooked the rear garden which was lovely. Our only grumble was the shower which had very poor water pressure and variable temperature but you can expect that sort of thing in an old building I guess. We found plenty to do in the area and would be very happy to return to this hotel in the future for another relaxing stay. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so pleasurable.

Beautiful in every way

Steve P, Leicestershire, stayed: October 2018

A marvelous place to stay - an incredible-looking place in beautiful surroundings. My late partner and I spent only two and a bit days there but it was a taste of sheer luxury which left very many happy memories.

Nice hotel but poor service

JB, stayed: September 2018

We stayed here for our anniversary and thought the room was nicely presented but was let down by the bathroom as being quite basic for a suite. The service was where the hotel really was a let down. The staff were friendly but was missing all the touches you would expect from a hotel like this. When waiting at the bar my wife asked the receptionist where the barman was and was told simply that we would just have to wait for him to turn up. Also at the restaurant we were asked if we wanted to pour our wine which normally you would expect it being poured by the waiter in most circumstances. Overall I think it had promise but with such bad service I don t think I will go back again.

Sue B, Cheshire, stayed: September 2018

Four of my adult family stayed at Dumbleton Hall. It exceeded our expectations. The rooms were comfortable, the quality of food in the restaurant was exceptional, the grounds were beautiful and peaceful (we stayed Monday - Wednesday), the staff were very pleasant and a beautiful area of the country. What more can I say?

Susan's stay at Dumbleton Hall

Susan W, South Glamorgan, stayed: August 2018

This is our fifth time staying at Dumbleton Hall It is a wonderful old Manor House set in a beautiful location. We love going there but the last two visits the Restaurant service has been very poor . I have had to move my used dishes onto another table myself. The Waiters have not been in control serving meals and taking orders. Breakfast and Dinner time I have had to ask for coffee etc., because we have been overlooked. I have had to remind the Waiter on a number of occasions that he has not taken our order. Our last but one stay they kept forgetting us and we were still in the Restaurant eating our main course at 10.00 clock. We were the only ones left in the Restaurant by this time, considering we had booked for 8.00 clock this was unacceptable they presented us with a free bottle of wine as compensation. We hope the service is corrected as we do love to come to Dumbleton there is always a friendly atmosphere and a very restful feeling sitting in the grounds.
