Tired
From the outside looks very royal, but once inside the place was very tired looking. Reception needs an update. Staff were extremely helpful and polite. Housekeeping need to up there game, Part of net curtain hanging down not put right until i mentioned it to reception, towels not folded up, glasses not replaced, valence at bottom of bed left on the couch, hook in bathroom hanging out of the wall and when cleaner touched it it fell out. Food was ok.
Nice relaxing stay but charged for items we didn t have
Hotel is lovely, old but well kept manor style building which looks a bit like the White House. Room, very roomy, bed was very comfortable. Windows didn t open (I expect listed building) but staff supplied fans on request. Spa was very relaxing, good sized pool and jacuzzi. Restaurant food was ok standard.
But - upon checkout we found additional bottle of wine on bill. Reception staff removed but checking credit card statement it was re-billed separately that same day. Have called hotel. But no call back. Phoned a 2nd time, still no call back. Still no refund! Hopefully it gets sorted soon, as other than this issue had a lovely stay.
A real gem of a hotel
A very nice place to spend some time, good rooms and a very reasonable evening menu.
Breakfast is as good as any and set us up for a day in the Pembrokeshire countryside
A relaxing and welcoming early C19 hotel with good breakfasts and evening meals.
Very nice hotel, historically an 1820s mansion built on the footprint of an earlier court house set in park land with free entry to the remains of a medieval palace next door. Breakfasts were good and plentiful and the evening meals equally as enjoyable. Highly recommend the chocolate fudge cake pudding. Staff were helpful and friendly. Pleasant base for exploring the local castles etc.
Fabulous two nights in Suite 228
We have just enjoyed 2 fabulous nights at Lamphey Court who gave us excellent service from our first approach to reserve our room and booking out. The location suited us so well with lovely country strolls just right for walking our dog first and last thing and the open field just above our suite where she could run free. She is well trained and returns when called we also picked up of course! The Bishops Palace just a couple of minutes walk away is well wroth a visit and is well documented within the grounds. On arrival we were early we enjoyed an excellent Caesar Salad lunch and then took ourselves off to dog friendly Freshwater East just 10 minute drive away. Back to the comfortable sitting room within the hotel, dog in the car, and read the papers for an hour before gaining access to our suite, which was a stone outhouse loft conversion approached up stone steps which continued on up to the field. Entrance hall, sitting room, fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. All very well appointed and comfortable, there was bags of room for Jess's cage bed and the leather sofa meant that we didn't have to worry about the upholstery. Day two took us through Pembroke to West Angle Bay and a 3.8 mile walk north around the coast and back into the Haven and causeway into the historic village of Angle where there is a medieval tower house the only one of its kind in Wales. Lunch over looking the beach, The Point Pub was packed. I enjoyed a very full crab sandwich. Both nights we ate at the hotel me having the steak (no surprize there) and we shared a pizza the second night all followed by locally made ice-cream washed down with a Merlot. Both the traditional Country House Bar and Conservatory Restaurant, both very different offer privacy and comfort. The table are not crowded in. The service was excellent, thank you "Harry". For us this answered all our needs and surpassed our expectations.
Friendly and accommodating staff
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, they went out their way to make everything easy and comfortable. The room was pretty basic.
Pressing the reset button
I have stayed here many times before and as usual it did not disappoint. Unfortunately there was a problem with providing a full breakfast and dinner menu however alternatives were appropriate and adequate and we all have times when things do not go according to plan! Staff were helpful and pleasant and we had a relaxing and refreshing 2 night stay we will stay here again by which time I am sure the issues will be addressed
