Really lovely - but ridiculous gin price!

Emily, Surrey, stayed: May 2019

My husband and I had a fabulous time, celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary at Southlodge. We were greeted with a beautiful suite which had a jar of sweets, labelled with congratulations to us both, which was a lovely touch.

The new spa is fabulous and not over filled with guests, so we were able to relax. We used the excellent gym which is very well equipped.

We had a few drinks in the bar before dinner and when I ordered a G&T, I was asked if I d like a large one, to which I gratefully accepted. It was very nice but on checking our bill at the end of the evening I noticed I d been charged for two drinks at 11 per drink. I queried this and found it was because I d accepted a double measure. Along with the service charge, I feel 26 for a large G&T is day light robbery. I ve not spent that amount on a drink even in top London venues.

We were lucky to be seated by the window in the restaurant for dinner and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was excellent and the same followed at breakfast the next morning. Lots of choice at the buffet and all of excellent quality.

Overall a really lovely stay and we ll be back - but won t be choosing the G&T!

Perfection

Elizabeth, West Sussex, stayed: April 2019

Love this place. I have disabilities with Motor Neurone disease but they understand my needs perfectly.
Nothing is too much trouble. Very comfortable beds and a lovely room .
Our evening meal in the Camellia restaurant was really nice, couldn't fault anything.
Looking forward to returning for a week in June, when we hope to sample the Pass restaurant

Good, but could be improved

Anon, stayed: March 2019

We had a lovely stay at South Lodge. The new Spa is beautiful. There are still a few bits of finishing needed but this was to be expected as it was the opening weekend for the spa.
The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. But the bathroom was in need of modernisation and there was a leak in the roof which resulted in a few drips on the head waking us up in the morning.
The restaurant was Ok. Food was lovely, but it lacked atmosphere with no music in the restaurant or bar area. We also felt a bit rushed-they were very keen to get us from the bar into the restaurant.
As part of the package we had booked, there was a credit included to spend in the wine cellar and this was the most disappointing part of our stay.
We were escorted down to the wine cellar only to find it hadn t been cleared from an earlier tasting session so the table was full of half eaten food and wines. The red wine part of the wine vending machine was out of action and we waited 15 mins for someone to come and sort it out before leaving as we had a dinner reservation soon after. So this was obviously disappointing, although we were able to spend the credit on wine in the bar.
Overall it was a lovely night away, but I think for the price of a stay here, I was expecting a bit more. We have stayed at sister hotel Pennyhill Park several times and I think i would go back there for future stays.

Wonderful bank holiday weekend

Anon, stayed: August 2018

Had a lovely time at South Lodge. Beautiful hotel, huge rooms, really attentive staff and excellent food. The Pass was on-par with leading London restaurants and really recommend. Especially with the Country Hotel Breaks deal which came with some free wine and food!
