Wonderfully indulgent!

We were made so welcome at Stoke Place. Our Junior Suite upgrade was truly beautiful. The staff were all friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed the restaurant on both nights of our stay and would visit again in a heartbeat if we got the chance.

Disappointing

Booked the gate house and quickly asked for a room change due to noise from the road and generally dull decor. Next room was better but the electrics failed which led to the toilet backfilling with sewage! Couldn't wash, brush teeth for fear it would overflow. Called reception who responded with, 'I'll let maintenance know'

Dinner was good, restaurant staff helpful.

Setting is lovely but didn't make up for the disappointing experience. Overall, disappointing.

We were upgraded when we arrived which was a lovely surprise! Our room was lovely and quite luxurious.The dinner in the restaurant was delicious,likewise,the 2 breakfasts we had and the afternoon tea!!
The staff were all polite,attentive and very helpful!Our room was cleaned whilst we were at breakfast ,to a very high standard!
We were absolutely delighted with our stay and would definitely stay here again!

Stoke Place weekend

Every member of staff was excellent, they could not have been more helpful and made the weekend most enjoyable even when on the Sunday they were extremely busy with an Indian Wedding and several birthday parties.
The grounds are excellent and relaxing for a walk.
The food was very good from breakfast to the Al la carte and the afternoon tea.
We had a room in the cottages which was large, clean with excellent bath and shower.
The hotel is a country house and needs some investment but now they are back up and running no doubt this will happen but the tepee outdoors is a nice addition for parties.
We had a great weekend and will certainly return because the success is down to the staff who were excellent throughout.

Lovely anniversary trip

Had a rare night away without the children. Room was upgraded and staff were so attentive (even if there was a wedding on at the same time!).

Great value for money

We had a lovely weekend stay with friends at Stoke place. Food was excellent and Ozzy in the restaurant was so helpful and attentive- thank you to him! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Lovely grounds to walk in and a good location. Thank you for a lovely weekend

Lovely hotel although our room was small and above the bar so fairly noisy, it didn t spoil our stay though. Staff were lovely.

Pleasant stay

My wife and I stayed for three nights at this hotel. In this period of Covid we found the hotel to be very clean and the staff helpful, friendly and reassuring. We were quite disappointed with the standard of our room..located in the eaves it wasn t difficult for us to access via stairs but certainly would not have been easy for a more elderly or less mobile person. The room itself had a reasonably comfortable bed but other than that was tired and the furniture heavy, dark and dated. The bathroom was large, water pressure was good but the shower head was broken in some way which meant water came squirting out the top making it cumbersome to use without soaking the walls etc. as there was no shower cubicle. The hot tap on the bath also did not stay in any position other than full on and this we thought was dangerous and made the shower unusable. Staying for such a short time, we decided not to make an issue of it and did not mention this to the staff, we took baths instead but it was just another small thing that let the room down a little. We enjoyed our stay for the most part and had some lovely walks around the grounds and the surrounding area, the weather being fine for most of our stay. We have stayed in some very good hotels and some bad hotels and others somewhere inbetween so I would describe this hotel as a decent hotel in a nice location.
