Guyers House Hotel & Restaurant sits amidst a classic English garden designed and developed over the past 22 years by Guy and Clare Hungerford. It is a garden of contrasts but restful and easy on the mind.
It was planted to complement the different aspects of Guyers House and particularly to take advantage of the attractive ancient stone walls that occupy the grounds. Thus the seventeenth century front faces long lavender edged yew walks with secluded enclosures and gazebos leading to an orchard and a pond and a line of shrub roses, whereas the garden faced by the Georgian facade of the house has an open, sweeping, airy freedom.
The Rooms at Guyers House Hotel
Classic double and twin bedrooms are all en-suite and equipped with flat screen digital television, telephone, free Wi-fi, clock alarm and coffee and tea making facilities. Each is elegantly styled and designed to give an atmosphere of comfortable ease and well-being. Almost all have lovely views over the garden.
Superior bedrooms are more spacious than the classic rooms and are prettily furnished with larger sleigh or four poster beds. They offer additional sitting room as well as digital flat screen television, telephone, free Wi-fi, clock alarm and coffee and tea making facilities with some additional touches of elegance and mineral water and luxury hand cream. All have lovely garden views from their windows.

3 night weekend break
Overall very good
When big parties at weekends for tea or dinner staff seemed to get a bit overwhelmed so that other guests did not always get the usual good service for drinks etc.
Shame the bar has to be so far from the dining room and lounge but obviously little can be done about! this.
Underwhelmed and disappointed
I wish I could tick at least one of the above descriptions as applying to Guyers House Hotel, but this is not the case. The public lounge had a tired look with the carpets and chairs needing a good clean. The central heating in our room was turned off when we arrived at about 5pm - not very welcoming on a November evening. The notice of 'fine dining' at the entrance gave us high expectations. My wife enjoyed her evening meal, but my roast lamb was piled high on the plate and had the appearance of left-overs from a carvery lunch. Breakfast was good.
I recommend that a representative from your organization books into the hotel as a private individual and checks the various aspects you think are important for your clients.
A good stay
The Guyers House hotel is well located just east of Bath and is Aestheticly pleasing with lovely grounds, however the room we had was very tired.
On the plus side the hotel staff were welcoming and friendly.
We had a nice meal in the hotel restaurant and Breakfast was excellent.
Overall a good stay
Had a short break as a gift for my 60th birthday, lovely relaxing setting and really comfortable bed which helps. Only negative we could find was that on our first night we assumed we would get vegetables with our main course so surprised when we didn t, weren t asked if we would like veg so assumed included, turns out you need to order separately but when it s 4 per item seems a bit steep, though the food is lovely felt basic veg should be included. Only negative. The receptionist ( who is expected ) was really helpful and very welcoming
We thought the room was a bit small with only space for one armchair, but beautifully cleaned each day. Grounds stunning in very peaceful location but easy access to popular places to visit. Food in main restaurant excellent each day.
Superlatives for Guyers House Hotel..
A lovely complex and charming, professional and helpful staff.
Excellent service and superb restaurant.
Free parking and lots of it.
A bar (could be renovated a little) & top-notch restaurant on site - what's not to like?
The staff are warm, caring and polite, as well as efficient.
It is a great getaway - off the highway, secluded and with a good "feel good" factor. Suits us very well.
Generally good experience with a couple of niggles
Overall an enjoyable stay with a large, comfortable room, in the main a good variety and quality of food in the restaurant and friendly and helpful staff. While the evening waiting staff were excellent one of our breakfasts occurred on a bank holiday Monday and was one of the worst experiences we have had at a mealtime. The problem was that the restaurant was very busy yet there were only two staff serving and though they tried their hardest it was not very efficient - we had to ask 5 times for toast which took 40 minutes to arrive. Most of the evening meals were excellent but slightly spoilt by a couple of little niggles - shell in a crab dish, a very large bone in a fishcake and a sweet which contained different ingredients to the menu.
Overall though worth a visit using one of the excellent offers that this website gives
